Capcom has revealed that several of their PlayStation One classics are heading to the PlayStation Network soon for download on the PlayStation 3 or PSP.
Via the official Capcom forums, Capcom’s Christian Svensson stated that several titles had already been submitted to Sony in the U.S. for certification, meaning that the games should go live on the PlayStation Store soon.
Although he added:
“Word I got back this morning is that this may take a bit more time than anticipated. We’ll keep folks posted. And for now I’m still not discussing what title(s) they are. We’ll discuss it when we’re through the pipe a bit further.”
There are only a few Capcom PS1 games already up on the PlayStation Store including the original Breath of Fire and Suikoden games.
Capcom is looking to greatly expand the list (which includes a large swath of popular and more obscure games that are up for download currently on the Japanese PS3 Store) and they have a huge collection of classic titles to choose from including the likes of:
Breath of Fire 3 and 4
Dino Crisis 1 and 2
Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, Survivor
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Mega Man’s: X4, 5 and 6, Mega Man 8, Mega Man Legends 1 and 2
and a host of Street Fighter games among many others.
