Red Alert 4 likely, as the loved RTS series hasn’t run its course yet

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 – Uprising‘s assistant producer Matt Ott reckons there’s life in the real-time strategy series yet. “I’d hardly say Red Alert has run its course,” he said implying Red Alert 4 is likely to go into production at developer Electronic Arts in the future.

In a recent interview, about the just-released download-only Uprising expansion, he continued: “We’ve surveyed our fans and Red Alert is consistently the most beloved Command & Conquer universe. Since Red Alert games are all about over the top alternate-realities and time travel gone wrong, the possibilities are really limitless.”

The Eurogamer interview notes that the team has “gotten a great response to Red Alert 3, it has a very strong community,” and “the dev team loves the Red Alert franchise.” But Mr. Ott dampened the expectations of fans hoping to see the sequel Red Alert 4 in the near-future by saying: “We aren’t secretly working on a new Red Alert behind closed doors. Remember, more than seven years passed between Red Alert 2 and Red Alert 3.”

Nooooo, not another 7 years! It can’t come soon enough!

Red Alert 2 also had that expansion though, which might be why there were 7 years between 2 and 3. Can’t wait for 4.

Wow lots of kids posting here.. Well, my two cents would have to include what’s already been said; the first decade was by far the best.. Though I reinstalled RA2 the other night and quickly removed it; it’s simply too old. We’re stuck with what’s new.. Lets just hope that any following CnC games (including the upcoming Generals 2) don’t suffer the same fate as the stock tiberian CnC saga, with Tiberian Twilight.

I personally preferred the tiberian universe for story, but RA was always equally fun to play online. Wouldn’t mind seeing more possible tactics such as the crazy ivan-conscript-flak track bomb. Either way, the less consolized the better. Take a hint from Starcraft 2, stay true to what the fans know and love.

I think every C&C fan unanimously agrees and vocally said they hated Tiberian Twilight, so that’s why all future C&C games should have base-building intact (I hope so anyway!) I don’t consider C&C4 to be the ending of that series, that’d be really bad, I always imagine the next game in the Tiberian universe to literally take place in the universe battling the Scrin on different planets.

But this page is really for Red Alert games, which have always been playfully fun, so if you wanna share C&C5 ideas, well EA have been reported to be asking fans about their ideas for future games here:
