The Xbox 360-exclusive real-time strategy game Halo Wars sold over 250,000 units in its very first day on retail shelves in North America where the game was released on March 3rd, 2009

That puts the game roughly on pace with that of Sony’s 800lb guerrilla Killzone 2.

As the latest title in the Halo saga, Halo Wars thus spawned midnight events across the country in keeping with the popularity and glamor one expects from any Halo videogame launch.

Halo Wars for Xbox 360Sales of Halo Wars are expected to pass the one million units sold mark worldwide by a comfortable margin, as the game is projected to hit 2 to 3 million units sold easily. That would make Halo Wars the most success Xbox 360 real-time strategy (RTS) game to date. And maybe, just maybe, will mean that the true transition of the RTS from PC’s to consoles has finally been achieved.

It’s also worth noting that the game has also sold over 200,000 units OUTSIDE of North America, putting the title’s worldwide first week sales at well over 450,000 units.
