First Still Life 2 adventure trailer unveils long-awaited sequel

Still Life 2 has been announced for PC

Still Life 2 has been announced for PC and will reveal the long-awaited ending to the original Still Life point-and-click adventure game whilst providing an all new investigation for Agent Victoria McPherson. The game has an April 27th, 2009 release date in the U.S. with a March 30th, 2009 release date in Germany.

Storyline
In Fall 2008, Victoria is sent to Maine where Audrey Dunnigan’s body has just been found. The modus operandi and the video sent to the police and press leave them in no doubt as to the killer’s identity: the East Coast Torturer has struck again! No clues are picked up during the autopsy, as the serial killer painstakingly washed the body. Once again, the killer has not committed any errors.

From her motel room, Victoria comes across a report by Paloma Hernandez, the journalist covering all the crimes bearing the East Coast Torturer’s signature. Hernandez has been highly critical of the FBI’s and Victoria’s lack of progress. That does not stop Hernandez from phoning and asking Victoria to meet her later that evening. Hernandez claims to have some so-called clues on the killer in her possession. Victoria flatly refuses. Just moments later, Paloma is kidnapped by the Torturer…

Still Life 2 will “remain true to the spirit” of the first game by allowing players to “manage two characters bound by the same fate.” Players will continue to control two heroines in order to see the game’s storyline from two different complimentary viewpoints. You’ll also get a different gameplay experience depending on the character. One of them is a victim reporter being hunted and captured by the killer, who must find out how to escape (Paloma Hernandez) while the other is the FBI detective tracking him down (Victoria McPherson). This allows players an interesting dichotomy as they alternate between “survival and investigation”.

The first game was also released on the original Xbox but there is no word on whether there are any plans to bring Still Life 2 to multiple platforms. It is reportedly exclusive to the PC.
