Silent Hill 1 remake coming to Wii and PSP

Silent Hill 1 remake for Wii & PSP will hopefully look way better than this

Konami may be creating a Silent Hill 1 remake for the Wii and the PlayStation Portable.

The first Silent Hill was released for the PlayStation 1 way back in 1999. The game would go on to be a hot seller and spawn one of the best survival horror franchises in the history of video games. Sadly though, the first Silent Hill eventually became very hard to find and thus was missed by many players who didn’t get into the franchise until Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 or Silent Hill 4: The Room. You can expect to pay upwards of $40 for a used copy of the game in crappy condition and over $100 for a new, sealed copy.

Silent Hill for PS1 fetches a pretty pennySo it’s very good news that Konami will be remaking the game for Wii and PSP. The Wii version is confirmed to feature motion controls for torch functions and both version of the game are being developed by Climax according to VG247.

Official confirmation of the game has yet to be revealed however, so take this news with a grain of salt until then. But personally I think this is fantastic news. I have never gotten to play the original Silent Hill despite owning all the others. And this also gives Konami a nice window to release a horror game for the Wii that will hopefully sell well. So it seems to be a win-win situation for them. Now let’s just hope that the game looks as good as the Resident Evil 1 GameCube remake and does not suffer in graphical quality.
