Kristen Kreuk (Smallville’s Lana Lang) plays a kick-ass Chun-Li in the movie Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Sadly though, just because Kristen makes a great interpretation of a classic videogame character, that doesn’t mean that she plays videogames herself. To the contrary, she has only played Street Fighter once! This according to an interview Kristen gave to The Japan Times (via Kotaku).

“I’ve only played Street Fighter once,” she told The Japan Times. “Growing up, I did watch my friends play it.”

She did know of the character though as stated above, and thus right off the bat she knew that there was no way she would be able to make her thighs as insanely muscular as those of Chun-Li in the videogame. However she didn’t think it was that big of an issue if the picture was going to be realistic.

“I thought if we were doing something realistic, then it wouldn’t be an issue,” she said. “But for fans, it is an issue, because that’s how they see their character.”

So she did what actors normally do, simply base her interpretation of Chun-Li on the script of the movie itself, not on her knowledge of the fighting game character.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is in theaters now.
