The Electronic Sports League is hosting a 5 on 5 worldwide tournament on World in Conflict. The World Championship registration ends on March 3rd, 2009. New and veteran players alike are welcome to participate in this online event sponsored by Intel. Prizes include 10 Intel Core i7 extreme edition processor and 20 Intel Core i7 920 processor (for each team member). All groupstage matches have to be finished before March 22nd, 2009. Playoffs take until April 5th, concluded by the finals (top 4) that last day.
If you want to be one of those new players to join this tournament, we’ve got a surprise for you. Later today we’ll start a World in Conflict giveaway where you can win Ubisoft’s PC game! We’ve got a few Steam product keys to give away, so stay tuned.
There will be two 5v5 tournaments running simultaneously:
* One “Pro” tournament where clans will fight for the title of World in Conflict World Champions and the chance to win powerful processors from Intel
* One “Fun” tournament where new players and old players returning from a longer break can compete and the winners are guaranteed to get loads of sweet World in Conflict loot such as Hoodies, fur caps, mousepads, t-shirts, and much more!
Here are the rules & details for the WIC tournament:
* Gamemodus & System: All matches will be played in 5on5 Domination mode. The Groupstage matches will consist of one map, which is played twice, with changed factions. While the playoffs matches will be Best-of-Three, if a game is died after the first two rounds of the map, the map has to be replayed until a winner is found. The best two teams of each group will advance to the playoffs.
* Mappool: The following maps will be played in the tournament: Farmland, Hometown, Seaside, Rivera, Quarry.
* Mapchoice: For each match the map is given by the ESL, but both teams can agree to play a different, but have to state it in the match comments on the matchdetails site.
* Screenshots: Every player has to take a screenshot at the end of each map and has to keep it for at least 14 days. For every match at least one screenshot per map and per team has to be uploaded after the match, both teams are responsible for making sure their screenshots are uploaded within 24h of the match. The screenshots must be in the .jpg format and have to be named meaningfully ( e.g.: Round1 USSR, Round2 USA…).
* Replays: All players have to record replays of each map and have to keep them for at least 14 days. For every match at least one replay per map and per team has to be uploaded after the match, both teams are responsible for making sure their replays are uploaded within 24h of the match. Individual players have 48 hours to upload the replays after an admin’s request. In addition, every team is obliged to upload the replays from one player after every game/match. Which player uploads the replays is the team’s decision. Replays must be in the .wicdemo format. Zipped files are not valid. — All players playing have to add the parameter “– quickreplay” to their World in Conflict shortcuts. The game has to be started with this parameter!
Sounds cool! I never got to try this when it was first released. I’d love to join the giveaway, is it online already?
