Codemasters lists 2009 releases: Dirt 2, Overlord 2, FUEL, Operation Flashpoint 2, Jumpgate Evolution. No less than three Overlord games announced with Wii and DS titles coming

Codemasters has released their 2009 videogame release schedule at the San Francisco Gamer’s Day event where they revealed releases for a number of titles including no less than THREE Overlord games.

Here is the full list and details:

* Overlord 2 – Heralding the return of the “delightfully despotic Overlord and his Minion horde”, Overlord 2 will ship this June 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

* Overlord: Dark Legend – An all-new Wii addition to the series, Dark Legend is a “twisted fantasy action adventure” that is steeped in “fairy tale lore with sinister satirical twists” and will star a new, younger Overlord. Naturally this game will probably make use of the Wii Remote’s pointer to control your Minions by simply pointing at the screen and clicking. No word on whether or not the game will use gesture controls.

* Overlord: Minions – An all-new DS exclusive “puzzle action game” that stars an “elite squad of four heroic Minions” providing a unique take on the Overlord series.

* DiRT 2 – The sequel to the award-winning off-road racing game, DiRT 2 will ship this September for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, DS and PSP. The most system’s that the 10 million+ selling series has ever launched on, allowing more gamers than ever to see what all the fuss is about. Like always, DiRT 2 will offer a “thrilling off-roading experience with extreme attitude” and will feature all-new visuals of events that take place in new places like Utah, Malaysia and London. The game will also feature a massive, spectator-packed Los Angeles sports stadium for a “exhilarating rally cross event”: The Stadium King Shootout. Codemaster’s also revealed to CVG that they are already have “multiple downloadable content (DLC) packs scheduled to release shortly after the game’s debut” that will allow players to personalize and augment their game.

FUEL – An all-new multi-terrain, multi-vehicle action racing title from Asobo Studios that will be released this May 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Players will be presented with the “largest environment ever created in a racing game” where they will compete across wildly different terrain that was all created via satellite data of the “most compelling, diverse and striking areas of America.” Locations include Utah’s salt-plains and Arizona’s Grand Canyon, all of which have been beautifully rendered using Asobo’s “A.C.E.” game engine.

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising – Set for release this summer 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising promises to be the “most accessible, engaging and visceral sandbox shooter of the year.”



Jumpgate Evolution
– Set for release this June by Codemasters in cooperation with NetDevil, this PC Massively Multiplayer Online game (MMO) promises “exhilarating space combat on a vast scale” that will allow players to view breathtaking visuals and offers an “innovative twitch-based space combat system”.
