Lost Planet 2 announced by Capcom with trailer. Features online co-op

Capcom has announced Lost Planet 2 through a trailer exclusively available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Yes, this is the Capcom Top Secret Game Announcement mentioned last week. Kenji Oguro is the game’s director, with Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi producing Lost Planet 2 as well. With Lost Planet: Colonies being released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, I’d expect the third-person shooter sequel to do be multi-platform as well. The game is powered by MT-FrameWork 2.0.
Mr. Oguro mentions in the announcement trailer that: “After we released Lost Planet, we heard so many users say that they wished they had been able to take on the Akrid enemies in a co-op mode. You should be able to see our response to those requests in the trailer you just saw.” The gameplay parts, that start 1:30 minutes into the trailer, seem to feature squad-based online co-op. You’ll also notice the voice-over mention a massive change in climate which has melted the snow and created brand-new environments such as jungles, and a story that takes place 10 years after the original game will not focus on one main character, but will be told from the perspective of various Snow Pirate factions. For other new stuff like portable cover shields like in Gears of War 2 and Mechs with passenger seats and turrets, you’ll have to watch the below trailer.
