Street Fighter 4 character select screenHow to unlock all secret Street Fighter 4 characters? That question will be answered in this guide that shows you who to unlock to get the full roster and how.

Below we’ve listed the 9 secret Street Fighter IV characters in alphabetical order.

Take the following steps — either by reading or watching — to unlock each one.

Table of Contents

1. Akuma: After unlocking Sakura Kasugano, Dan Hibiki, Cammy White, Fei Long, Gen, and Rose. First finish the arcade mode (on any difficulty) with any character, in this case use that same character for this second or later playthrough. Then fight Akuma on arcade mode, to do that get: at least 1 perfect round on 1-round matches (or 2 perfects on 3-round matches / 3 perfects on 5-round matches / 4 perfects on 7-round matches) including the last battle against Seth. No ultra combo finishes needed. But you can’t lose any matches/rounds nor use a continue when you die. Beating Akuma will unlock him.

2. Cammy White: Finish the arcade mode with Crimson Viper. That will unlock her.

3. Dan Hibiki: Finish the arcade mode with Sakura Kasugano. That will unlock him.

4. Fei Long: Finish the arcade mode with Abel. That will unlock him.

5. Gen: Finish the arcade mode with Chun-Li. That will unlock him.

6. Gouken: After unlocking Akuma, Sakura Kasugano, Dan Hibiki, Cammy White, Fei Long, Gen, and Rose. First finish the arcade mode (on any difficulty) with Akuma, and watch (not necessary to watch everything) an ending. In this case to play also use a character you already finished arcade mode with, and with which you watched the ending once, for his/her second or later playthrough. Then fight Gouken on arcade mode, to do that get: at least 1 perfect round on 1-round matches (or 2 perfects on 3-round matches / 3 perfects on 5-round matches / 4 perfects on 7-round matches), plus at least 3 Super Combo or Ultra Combo Finishes on 1-round matches (or 5 super/ultra finishes on 3-round matches / 7 super/ultra finishes on 5-round matches / 9 super/ultra finishes on 7-round matches), and at least 5 First Attacks — meaning you must score the first strike in a match — in 1 match (or 10 first attacks in 3-round matches / 15 first attacks in 5-round matches / 20 first attacks in 7-round matches). But you can’t lose any matches/rounds nor use a continue when you die. Beating Gouken will unlock him.

At first this game was a disappointment. But after about 2 hours of practicing and playing the game… I started getting used to it. This is not as quick as HD Remix, so you’ll have to get used to the timing.

Here’s a list of pros vs. cons about the game
    in my opinion:

    CONS:

BAD music, especially during online lobby!
(NOTE: The music cannot be turned completely off in the settings)

Charge characters (guile, honda etc.) have BIG disadvantage! When they get knocked down, you can’t do a special move to counter…. where as guys like Ryu, Ken, etc… can simply dragon punch etc.

Why do the characters have to act so retarded? They almost seem to be on drugs

    Seth is full of $H)T!!!

Dee Jay is M.I.A., yet they have DAN! OMG yet another Ken/Ryu Character!

You want ULTRA meter? … then get beat up first! (Nice way to reward you)

    No online tournament,

Only 1 slot available for your friends for non-ranked games

    —-

    PROS:

    Great graphics and backgrounds!

    Combo’s look and feel good!

    Awesome achievements

    Cool and unique moves

    In response to “Jay”:

First off Dee Jay was cheap as hell. I never saw one skilled person play as him. “Charged move characters” do NOT have a disadvantage at all… You probably just don’t know how to use them yet, there is nothing wrong with the Shogun based fighters infact its ones like them that require the most skill during fights and you can only use Ultra combos when you’re practicly dead so if you want to go ahead and get beaten up just so you can use that move then go ahead but you won’t win the fight.

I love how people who aren’t very good at this game start complaining about all aspects of it; the only real beef I can find is Zangief is a little over-powered this time around, and Seth cheats. I understand making Zangief stronger so he can compete in ranked matches, but they over did it a bit– his grappling reach is crazy, and he takes priority over other moves, so he’s all but untouchable if you know what you’re doing. Seth just goes ape-shit if you play him on any mode with the slightest difficulty (perfectly timed grabs and unblockable attacks; what were the game designers thinking? We like a challenge, not cheating CPU opponents). Other than that, I love the new combo options, and focus attack/dash combo potential. Not a bad sequel, and about time!

    seth is a cock

    … a C….O….C….K….

It’s funny how I can beat the hardest difficulty without continue, but on the easiest setting, I can’t beat Seth with Guile, Chun Li or Balrog…. F….U….C….K!!!! It’s frustrating….

The game is so cool and i love it.
But can we get some of the alpha characters like Cody. Hay what the hell happen to Evil Ryu, Alex some of the characters from 3rd Strike. And what is the name of the song that is playing on the menu screen?

  • Steven Le

Just want to let you guys know. You cannot use Ryu to unlock Gouken. I got to fight Gouken two time and defeated him, but Gouken was not unlock. I think only akuma can unlock him. I also got to fight Gouken with only one Perfect. So, don’t give up the game if you only had one perfect.

I’m going to start off agreeing with Jay. At first, I was pretty disappointed… especially after reading the great reviews. After a little practice, I changed my mind. Okay, the music is about as homosexual as you can get. For real, what the “f”? I don’t want to listen to some queer Backstreet Boys song. And yes, the cartoons are equally as homo. WHY do they have to do crap like that??? Also, is it just me or does ANYONE else think the graphics are really “NOT” that great? Compared to 1994, they are awesome but I feel like they could have made it much more detailed due to being a 2-D platform.

In a World where video games are coming out evry tuesday with no meaning behind this, SFIV is the best thing to happen to us gamers in a long while.

I have the game and my wife is enjoying the way it looks. (she IS not a video game babe!) if a game can do that, then it has accomplish its mission.

as far as the characters and the gameplay and music is concern, nothing is perfrect. we all should have guessed that something was going to be wrong with the game but WE ALL were too busy looking at the graphics. but I have no cons about it.

HEY CAPCOM WHILE DONT YOU DO THIS TO MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2? I’LL BUY THREE COPIES……
