Seemingly in a show of unbridled success, Nintendo is bucking the worldwide economic downturn by announcing that they are going to build an all new research and development (R&D) office near their Kyoto, Japan Headquarters that would make it easier for the company’s two other R&D offices to collaborate easier (meaning a merger?) as well as work on new upcoming console development and new software for the Wii and DS.
The new building will be constructed on a 40,000 square-meter lot that Nintendo purchased in December for ¥12.8 billion ($141.6 million).
Nintendo has not announced if the two offices will be merged into one or when that will take place.
