EVE Online retail package includes special edition ship bonus
Eve Online will be heading to store shelves as a boxed retail game (it has been sold digital-only since Icelandic company CCP Games took over publishing rights from Simon & Schuster Interactive in May of 2003 including via Steam since January of 2008) and the details on what the package will include have been confirmed to EuroGamer via a box art post at UK retailer GAME.
Here are the details on what is included in the retail boxed copy of Eve Online:
* 60 days of free game time.
* A special edition ship. The ship is a fast shuttle that has increased cargo space. This marks the first time that CCP Games has offerend an exclusive ship through this kind of promotion, which naturally is because they are hoping existing EVE players will buy the game for the exclusives as both existing players and new players can take advantage of the offers included in the retail version of the game.
* A Career Guide for those who are new to the series that describes what roles are available in the game for players to partake in and offers goals for the players to achieve and valuable advice on how they can live the good life in the world of EVE Online and it’s player-driven economy. It wasn’t revealed whether this is an actual booklet or a digital one/in-game tool.
* An in-game certificate lets you take part in factions without having to level-grind to achieve it, granting you instant access to the fictional warfare introduced in 2008′s Empyrean Age expansion.
* All of the game’s previously released expansions including the upcoming Apocrypha expansion pack which launches on March 10th that adds unexplored new space, modular ship designs, a reworked new-player experience and more.
* A VIP Pass that allows you to give your friends a free trial and receive an extra 30 free days if your friends subscribe to the game.
As well as getting 60 days of game time, purchasers will be able to extend a “VIP pass” to friends, offering an extended free trial to the friend and an additional 30 days to the player if the friend subscribes.
