Dynasty Warriors 7 will be better than 6, says creator

The official Koei UK website did a video interview with the creator of Dynasty Warriors 6, producer Takashi Morinaka from Koei’s internal development team Omega Force. The next game in the series, the Dynasty Warriors 7 hint, is quoted below. But another sequel won’t come as a surprise to long-time fans of the Hack-and-Slash series.

Question: Are you satisfied with how Dynasty Warriors 6 turned out?
Answer: “I believe that we as developers have only begun to scratch the surface of what can be done with this new generation of consoles. Dynasty Warriors 6 has advanced in many areas and is the best we can do at this time. Still, fans [of the main Dynasty Warriors series] can look forward to even better games in the future.”

Here’s the interview with him answering questions about Dynasty Warriors 6 and at the end hinting at Dynasty Warriors 7.

What would you like to see in Dynasty Warriors 7?

I would love to see some of the original characters back in. I grew up playing all of them, but Da Qiao was epic and my favorite.

Some things that would be really fun to have back:
- Items ( Not weapons Please! the weapon style you have is perfect. DW4 and 5 were annoying because I had to do silly tasks to get “level 5″ weapons. Please avoid this. )
- Edit Mode ( This was really fun )
- Legends ( Would be nice, BUT, I think I know why you got rid of so many, it takes up space for the bulk of the game, so if you need to keep those seperate please do DW6 has been a very impressing game )
- Bodyguards ( Meh didn’t really use them much they simply got in the way )
- Original Characters ( Like Da Qiao and the Nanmen )
- More outfits ( Maybe a mix of old and new )

Things that I would like to stay out or the same:
- Move sets ( PREFECT! I LOVE attacking non-stop, it makes the game more real and it allows you to navagate your attacks. Its just awesome )
- Leveled Weapons ( By far the most annoying aspect of all the previous DW games. The current setup from DW6 is prefect )
- Remove some of the weapons ( Alot of characters have pole-arms. Removing some would make the game more DW-ish you know. However a few characters, such as Lu Bu, have absolutely prefect weapons. He is way more fun to play in this. Diao Chan is also perfect, she can ACTUALLY kill things. Same goes for Zhen Ji, Liu Bie, Sun Shang, Yue Ying, and Zhou Yu )
- Keep the special move sets ( Alot of characters in the previous DW games had weak if not worthless special moves. Diao Chan for one. Unplayable in the last few games. Same goes for Zhen Ji, Sun Jian, Sun Ce, and a few more that I can’t think of. )
- Character “Doll” Looks ( Most of the characters in DW6 have been remade with incredible detail. Diao Chan is gorgeous in this one. I suggest keeping a good bit of them the way they are )

These are most of the things I can think of off hand. It is a wonderful game to play ( have it on right now =P ) There are just a few nicks that could be fixed.

I hope to see some fixed and some kept.

I want to see all charecters back, wit storylines for each one of them and also move sets and weapons for all, create charecter mode, more items and perks, armor and weapons you can buy, like after and before a battle you enter a village and buy equipment, set troop formations and stratagies if you are a ruler or stratagist. buy your own army, and even custimize your army or followers. i think that it will be fukn badass if thay put all of dis in ther.

i would like to see all the characters and each one has a story line and new weapons movelists new level raises character creation brand new horses create new weapons and new characters plus make it for 360 and ps2 or 3 i thought 6 was a good game but it did not have all the characters why is that?

well they have all characters in number 6 the only problem is that you need to unlock them by doing bonus things and stuff, for example you must do bonus tutorial to get bonus points and when your at the main menu for the game you go to archives and bonus then characters, and also there is a character customization in final dynasty warriors 6 but for some of the outfits you need to unlock, and besides final dynasty warriors 6 empires is pretty fun i like it and its fun other than number 5 which i played for 5 hours till i got bored, number 5 was boring with the story but somewhat fun, but just hang on lol they’ll fix the gremlins on number 7 and make it fun

in Dynasty Warriors 7… i would love to see custom Army and to be able to create your own land and build forts and barracks and troops and generals would be nice!! Have Storyline from the book Three Kingdoms by: Moss Roberts… that is the best 3K book i read… and it has there real names in it and what happened? Yellow Turbans which were really called Yellow Scarves… and then Dong Zhou tries to take over and stuff… so much can be done to improve DW7 but i do understand that Koei cant do it all and add all of our idea’s and everyones wishes into this game or 1 disc… but would be nice if they can make it into 2 disc and have 3rd disc as music cd i love the music!!! ok see ya sorry this was long?

in dynasty warriors 7 i would like to be able to create a character and to build nd rule your own land nd for zhou tai to hav his katana back i loved him with his katana and this time with a massive story for more than 1 disc because i enjoy playin big story lines nd this time ater u complete the story to hav a free mode because on dynasty warriors 6 there was but not on dynasty warriors 6 empires i found that boring please make this game nd make it as aswesome as the rest!!! but better =) !!

in Dynasty Warriors 7, I think that besides all the above mentioned stuff, is for what Samurai Warriors 2 did: inter-castle battles. That would make this game all the more worth it. And also, like what is done in Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is like parts….maybe customization for armor and weapons and such. Just a few thoughts.

Well to be honest DW6 was the best for me ive played all 6 including there regular versions and empires as well but in rating i would rate it 2nd to DW5. But if they could, add a custom mode for those who would like ot create there own forts and armies and how they look. And please give zhou tai his sword back i was crying when yall took my favorite weapon. Can u imagine tho a DW game where u can create your own base look and map design and still have your own personal character to strut around in.(believe me i spent weeks just holding down 1 base against the world so i hope they keep that as well) O almost forgot but can u make it where we can induce movies say like if we are about to fight the last faction on the map we can induce a movue to occur and it will add to our enjoyment(or for certain people make a cutscreen before we fight them in melee) o and im also sugesting adding back that Kill the person for good or force em to work under u mments/or release em) that was actually a good touch to the game.
