Dynasty Warriors 7 will be better than 6, says creator

The official Koei UK website did a video interview with the creator of Dynasty Warriors 6, producer Takashi Morinaka from Koei’s internal development team Omega Force. The next game in the series, the Dynasty Warriors 7 hint, is quoted below. But another sequel won’t come as a surprise to long-time fans of the Hack-and-Slash series.

Question: Are you satisfied with how Dynasty Warriors 6 turned out?
Answer: “I believe that we as developers have only begun to scratch the surface of what can be done with this new generation of consoles. Dynasty Warriors 6 has advanced in many areas and is the best we can do at this time. Still, fans [of the main Dynasty Warriors series] can look forward to even better games in the future.”

Here’s the interview with him answering questions about Dynasty Warriors 6 and at the end hinting at Dynasty Warriors 7.

I Want You Guys To Add More Characters. If Not Will You Put Back Jiang Wei Please. Also Put More Musous in 7, they took a lot out in 6.

bring back zuo ci he was so great and maybe put custom charecters in like on empires and extream legends and please thing about possible online play not challenges or anything like that big online campagin and vesus fighting with your custom chrecter but have respawns in it. and make the maps bigger and have more musou mode charecters too it was a little disapoting in 6 it took me a day to do and dont get me wrong you guys rock and i love you games

Hello! When Dynasty Warriors 7 comes out it needs a lot more musous. DW6 was disappointing because the musou modes were noticably shorter stage wise and there were less characters to play with in it. The game’s graphics were a lot better and the gameplay was fun but it gets boring after one plays the same levels after a time. So, yes, DW7 needs more levels, custom characters (they amused me x3), more musou modes, and whatever else comes with it. DW6 was a great start, though.

I love this game its so awesome, but i think it would be even better if they include online play and create your own character like in dynasty warriors 4, more musou story lines would be great and costumes…Also more girl characters that dont have girly weapons like bows and whips lol.. swords and spears!!

The biggest problem with DW6 was the ridiculous amount of clone characters there were. They took a lot of our favorite characters and gave them the exact same weapon and move set. They completely ruined Wei Yan. In DW5, he was an amazing bezerker who couldn’t be stopped with an original set of moves. In DW6, you could play as Wei Yan, Dong Zhou, or Xu Zhu (Chu) and get the same desired effect.

Bottom line: all original characters with original move sets and musou modes. It might take longer to develop and be a bit more work, but it will pay off.

oh yeah, i want my bow and arrow back too…

I love the Dynasty Warriors series… i’ve been playing since DW2 and i’ve got all of em from then on.

I’d like to see 5th Level weapons come back… and like Johnez Rodrigez said, “bring back Zuo Ci.” I too loved playing with him on DW5 Empires. What a spectacular character to have left out!

I also agree with Patrick on the unique moves for each player. It stumped me to play with Wei Yan and Dong Zhou… only to feel like they were the same characters in the end. And to big up Patrick again… yes… Wei Yan’s windmill move in DW5 was off the chain!

One other thing i’d like to see and this could be reaching… but i’d like to see an arch nemesis for General Lu Bu. Like, someone who came from the same land as he… or maybe from the same training camps… having the same skill level… but possessing different weapons & moves. They could either be someone he double-crossed and couldn’t kill… or a twin-like brother who only sides with the good. Even if you wanted to be lazy about it… you could combine Lu Bu’s old moves from previous DW games and give those to him. I just wanna see someone who makes the bad guys sweat like Lu Bu does the 3 Kingdoms.

It would be awsome to bring back the ability to creat your own charator. Also it would be nice to bring back body guards too.
