Dynasty Warriors 7 will be better than 6, says creator

Dynasty Warriors Sun Shang Xiang
The official Koei UK website did a video interview with the creator of Dynasty Warriors 6, producer Takashi Morinaka from Koei’s internal development team Omega Force. The next game in the series, the Dynasty Warriors 7 hint, is quoted below. But another sequel won’t come as a surprise to long-time fans of the Hack-and-Slash series.

Question: Are you satisfied with how Dynasty Warriors 6 turned out?
Answer: “I believe that we as developers have only begun to scratch the surface of what can be done with this new generation of consoles. Dynasty Warriors 6 has advanced in many areas and is the best we can do at this time. Still, fans [of the main Dynasty Warriors series] can look forward to even better games in the future.”

Here’s the interview with him answering questions about Dynasty Warriors 6 and at the end hinting at Dynasty Warriors 7.

What would you like to see in Dynasty Warriors 7?

this is all for now. sorry if this is long and confusing but the way i picture it, it would kick but. i have drawn out a chart showing every characters levels of each of their special attacks. trying to balance each character with distinct advantages and disadvantages. also level differences to make each characters special attacks more or less effective than others.

i have dynasties 3-6. i’m a pretty big fan. its the game i always look forward to the most. there are things that i feel could dramatically improve dynasty period. first problem is the repetition. lets say a character like zhunge liang’s fire attack. his is the best, but its the same thing over and over again. and thats the same for everyone’s special attack. i think that every character should have all five special attacks to start with. no more, no less and no tokens. you can only do each one, one time. so do it in the right situation. end of repetition. but the special attacks should be effective enough so that you don’t have to do a certain one fifteen times in a battle. different characters special attacks could reach different levels of strength and effectiveness. so you may want to save lubu’s true strengh as your last attack and do his other special attacks first or until you need it. make lubu’s true strength a level 5 where he can kill anyone with one heavy hit. and zhunge liangs true strengh a level one. where he may have to hit an enemy five times just to kill them. on the other hand, zhunge liang’s fire attack could be a level five. having exellent range and taking fifty percent of an enemy’s health without even touching them. also automatically taking over a base if you do it in a base. and lubu’s could be a level two. having less range and taking only twenty percent of an enemy’s health. doing twenty percent damage to an enemy base. each character would have all five special attacks with each attack at different levels for different characters. base the levels on character background. like say huang zhong and xiahou yuan have always been similar to me. make characters as playably separate as possible. xiayou yuan has always been weaker, but faster than huang zhong. so make xiahou yuan’s true speed a level four with each hit to any enemy doing about twenty five percent damage. thats four hits for a kill. xiahou yuan’s true strength should be a level two with each hit doing twenty five percent damage. thats also about four hits. so even though xiahou yuans true strengh level is lower, his true strengh is as strong as his true speed. huang zhong’s true strengh and speed should both be level three’s. with his heavy hits each doing fourty percent damage per hit, so three hits per kill. each hit of huang zhongs true speed should do 17% damage. so that would mean six hits from a true speed attack. since xiahou yuan and huang zhong are both known as excellent archers, both of their volleys should be level fives. which would be their main similarity. both having excellent range and reload rate. duration won’t be nesicary because if their volley do enough damage, like say fifty percent to any enemy for a short time without even touching them, it doesn’t have to last a long time.

instead of having skill, standard and strengh weapons to choose from. you should have one weapon that is the combination. light attacks with square should be fast and faster with renbu. strenght attacks with triangle should be strong and stronger with renbu. your mushuo with circle, should have the reach of a standard weapon.

since you would only be doing sima yi’s rockfall one time, its effectiveness should be devastating, literally. his rockfall should be a level five, having excellent size and doing fifty percent damage to any enemy.

special attack levels should be geared by characters offensive and defensive tactics. say for example zhou yun is more offensive than defense so he could have higher levels of true strengh and true speed and lower levels of fire attack, rockfall and volley. zhunge liang is more defensive than offensive so his fire attack, rockfall and volley levels should be higher than his true strenth and true speed levels.

thank you for reading

I love the series to death. but i wish that everyone(the characters) would have a story mode again and more battles were added.

Dynasty Warriors needs to be taken out of the hack n slash genre. I have played a number of video games and I have seen things I like and things I don’t. The artistic features of ancient china are seeringly beautiful, so I think the game should definitely focus on the graphics and set designs/costumes. I think mini-games would be fantastic on the side, like the pirate poker in Pirates of the Caribbean, which kept me playing even though I actually hated the game. Playing levels and then finishing for more or less nothing is very unrewarding, which is why games like Final Fantasy have attained classic status. Perhaps if the player could journey round places without having to battle and even participate in the strategic elements of the battles. Have little button sequences, like POTC game, where you have to push buttons and maybe even some puzzles to wake the player up. The player could journey round villages and help the villagers out, or go to the palace and play poker with friends. And plan battles and maybe sneak into the enemy’s territory and try to steal things. Add more individuality to the characters and bring back the characters were cut!

DW7 needs no forts just alot of soldiers

more cinematics

better worlds

more story modes

cool graphic (like always)

create a warrior

you should be able to go in and make your own maps
and play them

online mode (you can scroll down and click online and go in and fight on differant sides and battles)

keep the slashing n hacking

and you should be able to be on every team because DW6 sucked ALOT on ps3 you couldnt be on Yuan Shus forces pretty shit in my opinion its better to be on all the teams you wnat to
