Helghast drop-ships deliver Killzone 3
With Killzone 2 having been five years in the making, and finally being released late February 2009, you’d think Guerrilla Games would have enough for now. But the Sony Computer Entertainment-owned Dutch studio have left a very loud and clear message the FPS series will continue towards Killzone 3. How? With an open ending to Killzone 2 of course.

*SPOILER WARNING*

Stop reading here if you don’t want the Killzone 2 campaign ending spoiled. Hexus got early review code for the game and describes the ending as follows: “After a tough final boss battle against Colonel Radec of the Helghast Army, you meet up with Emperor Scolar Visari in his Helghan palace, who you’ve been searching for throughout the game, You’re supposed to arrest him and bring him to justice, but his army has killed many of your men along the way and you’re not the forgiving type. He warns you that if you are to kill him, his armies will rise and will fight to the death in his name.

Foolishly, you ignore his threats as you think you’ve killed off most of the Helghast in the game, and the rest will back down with no commander behind them. You kill him and think that the game ends there, but when you walk outside of the palace you’re greeted with the sight of dozens of Helghast drop-ships filling the sky. ‘The Madness Begins,’ are Visari’s final words.” Other reports suggest at the very end hundreds of drop-ships can be seen approaching your position. Obviously the war is far from over.

*SPOILER ENDS*

But I think we already knew Sony has a lot invested into this game, enough to warrant them making it into the PlayStation’s big hit series.

Update October 19: The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine has an article on page 20 titled “The Secret Games of 2010″ that says the following about Killzone 3. To quote: “Insider slips reveal three big names you can already pencil for the next year. Killzone 3 is reportedly deep in development, Insomniac’s Full Moon Show podcast hints at a project we can only conclude is Resistance 3, and a Treyarch employee’s online mentions a Call of Duty: World at World sequel.”

Why print this at all? What could anyone possibly get from telling everyone the ending to the game? Sure you wrote ‘SPOILERS’ so you’ll just say “well you don’t have to read it” but my (pre-emptive) reply is you didn’t have to write it! You could have said the events at the end of the game lead you to believe the sequel will follow on without actually revealing the entire ending. Of course there’ll be a sequel, this isn’t big news. Basically the guy that wrote this is just selfish!

@ Monkeynuts: I only wrote it because I was excited there will be another sequel! I thought wanting to share such great news with others was the opposite of selfish lol.

PS: I’m sorry that you’re upset, but like you said, fair is fair and I gave not only the big spoiler sign warning, but another one below that for people who haven’t finished Killzone 2 yet to stop reading.

I really hope there is another Killzone. I already can’t wait!

I think there will be one…kz2 is the best ps3 series out there. No further Questions.

I hope there is another Killzone. It would be good to play from the Helghast side or similar to Killzone 1 where you get to to choose 1 of 4 characters. Rico Velazquez does my head in, hope he dies in the next Killzone (if there is one!)
