Some all-new details have surfaced on the upcoming Wii, PS2, PSP and DS Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings game, including the shellshocking announcement that the game will include a full port of the classic point-and-click PC adventure game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis as an unlockable bonus!
The game is very hard to find nowadays (much less to play, given that it was released in 1992) so this is awesome news for those who missed out on the classic LucasArts adventure game back in the day or simply have not been able to track it down.
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings is set in 1939 and follows everyone’s favorite archaeologist on a new adventure that takes him from Chinatown in San Francisco, California to the lush jungle of Panama in Central America. Players will need to use Indy’s whip, their own wits and have a fighting spirit to take on the game’s ruthless opposition and his nemesis Magnus Völler as they race to recover the Biblical Staff of Moses.
Gameplay-wise, players will use the Wii Remote’s motion sensor to swing Indy’s whip and will have to use the whip to solve puzzles and fight enemies in “completely interactive environments”. These environments will challenge players to think in “clever and unexpected” ways in order to solve the game’s puzzles and progress in the adventure. Naturally the game will stay true to the spirit of the films with thrilling action sequences that range from Indy’s pursuit of the motorcade in Raiders of the Lost Ark to the mine-cart scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom to the free-for-all aboard the tank in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
In addition to using the whip, players will also be able to use a gun, ride vehicles including a biplane, a raft and an elephant and the game will feature co-operative play via a character from the Indiana Jones universe who has never been playable in an Indie game up to this point.
The game will also include a multiplayer versus mode where players fight with the biplanes as well as in tanks. There will also be over 20 hidden artifacts and unlockables for players to achieve in the game.
The DS version of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings will naturally have players swiping the stylus to swing Indy’s whip while the PSP version will include exclusives of its own including six types of gameplay from combat to physics challenges to puzzles to chase sequences.
Key features of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings include:
