The House of the Dead: Overkill videos look at game’s storyline and the history of the HotD series
Developer Hothead Games is seeking to revitalize the House of the Dead franchise with The House of the Dead: Overkill for Wii, the 5th entry in the rail-shooting horror arcade game series exclusively on Wii. The game has a February 10th, 2009 release date
As you have likely seen in the trailers for the game, Overkill is bringing a Grindhouse-style vibe to the experience by making a game that isn’t funny because of it’s bad translation and Engrish dialogue, but a game that is self-aware of it’s ridiculousness and plays up on it.
It really is bringing a modern twist to a franchise that has for too long remained stagnant and stuck in the past. And not only is the game getting a nice modern update on the Wii (which is a perfect fit for the series) but it also looks like one heck of a fun game!
In these two behind-the-scenes developer diary videos we get a look first at the history of the franchise, and then at what Hothead Games is planning to bring to this entry in terms of storyline and characters.
