Mortal Kombat 9 is now officially underway as Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe ships 1.8 million units

Mortal Kombat 9 is now officially underway says Ed Boon, co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series and the mastermind behind all the core titles in the franchise including the most recent MK8 or Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe as it was officially named.

“We’re already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future,” Boon said in a press release announcing that MK vs DCU had shipped (not sold) 1.8 million copies.

As the game has not even been “officially” announced there are obviously no solid details on the new MK game at this point but it is highly likely that the game will go in a much more violent direction than Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe due to several comments that Ed Boon had made even previous to that game’s release when people found out that the game would be rated Teen and thus less violent than previous MK titles.

Of course, this is just speculation, for all we know the next game is in fact Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe 2!

Ok MK vs DC was lame!!!! What kind of MK was that. I mean it was rated Teen for crying out loud! When I think of mortal kombat it is not f**g teen rated. I hope they bring the real mortal kombat back!

I have to say I absolutely thought the game was great. But if you want to make an mk crossover, talk about mk vs marvel. Also bring the blood back.

They already have Capcom vs. Marvel. Now they have MK vs. Dc. The next step should be MK unrated vs. D.O.A unleashed. Bring back johnny cage from the dead. Also, think about characters from Tekken n Soul Calibur for extra roosters. Please no cheap moves it gets to repeative and boring.
