De Blob 2 to be expected in the future says THQ

de Blob for WiiTHQ’s de Blob 3D platformer has sold 230,000 copies in America alone on the Nintendo Wii between its launch in September up to December 2008. Not bad for a new IP! Even better news for fans of the unique and fun game is that after such great de Blob sales publisher THQ seems anxious to get de Blob 2 made. Not surprising, since during the same period, Nintendo’s platformer Wario Land: Shake It! (which launched on Wii on the same day as de Blob) sold only 150,000 copies according to the NPD.

When IGN showed the NPD data to THQ for comment, a spokesperson for the company indicated that de Blob’s solid American sales beginnings are only half the story. The the rep said “We’re pleased with de Blob’s performance worldwide,” and continued “It’s a great intellectual property and you can tell your readers to expect to see more of de Blob in the future.”

What do you want to see in a The Blob sequel? Bigger levels or more varied missions perhaps?
