Metal Arms 2 of interest to Glitch in the System developer

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System on XboxBefore Swingin’ Ape studies was bought by Blizzard Interactive in May 2005, Metal Arms 2 was in development. Many of the characters and enemies were animated. But after the Blizzard buyout the sequel to 2003’s Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (PS2, Xbox, GameCube) was never released.

The April 2008 Xbox Live downloadable (via Xbox Originals) re-release of the game would indicate there’s still an audience interested in the fun but undersold third-person shooter.

Now former Swingin’ Ape head, Steve Ranck, (and current president of developer Specular Interactive, who are working on a Hydro Thunder spiritual sequel H2Overdrive) mentioned that he was interested in acquiring the rights to the Metal Arms series and would “absolutely” be interested in making a sequel if he had the opportunity, reports 1UP, after interviewing him.

Let’s hope publisher Vivendi Universal Games are interested too!
