Metal Arms 2 of interest to Glitch in the System developer

Before Swingin’ Ape studies was bought by Blizzard Interactive in May 2005, Metal Arms 2 was in development. Many of the characters and enemies were animated. But after the Blizzard buyout the sequel to 2003′s Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (PS2, Xbox, GameCube) was never released.

The April 2008 Xbox Live downloadable (via Xbox Originals) re-release of the game would indicate there’s still an audience interested in the fun but undersold third-person shooter.

Now former Swingin’ Ape head, Steve Ranck, (and current president of developer Specular Interactive, who are working on a Hydro Thunder spiritual sequel H2Overdrive) mentioned that he was interested in acquiring the rights to the Metal Arms series and would “absolutely” be interested in making a sequel if he had the opportunity, reports 1UP, after interviewing him.

Let’s hope publisher Vivendi Universal Games are interested too!

I loved the first one. A sequel would be great. I feel like this would make an awesome game to play online.

I agree with Jordan. The first metal arms is sooooo underrated and it needs a sequel. They clearly set up a sequal at the end of the campaign

We need a game of that quality and game play. An online
version would be a HUGE hit, with teen and parents alike.

The Glitch is the game that got me hooked.

I would love it, but im afraid it wont be the same. The missions had the perfect amount of challenges, collectibels, action, and vehicle gameplay to it, and of course humor. It would be awesome if they could make a sequel even better, that is the game i have been waiting for.

A sequel would be utterly awesome! I saw the trailer for the game. If they make a sequel, i hope they use the same graphics as in the commercial trailer.

Just lending my vote to a sequel, it could make a great Xbox Live Arcade/PSN game! Loved the original, truly a cult classic.

I’ve never played Metal Arms but always wanted to. Heard nothing but GREAT things about it. I need to put it back on my “Need to play” list. Hopefully a sequel will still come!
