Final Fantasy XIII coming to America and Europe after April 2010?

Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will remain exclusive to Japan for 2009 meaning that the Western world will not get the upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 epic until mid-2010 at the earliest.

The game will be released in 2009 in Japan although a specific date has yet to be set even there.

President of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada, told Reuters that the game was on it’s way to being released for the PS3, exclusively, in Japan in 2009 with international launches for the Xbox 360 and PS3 coming “in the business year from April 2010 or later.”.

Despite Square Enix’s biggest cash cow being delayed for 2009, Square Enix still expects to have a huge year and is optimistic about it’s financial outlook although the project a small dip in operating profit of 2.4 percent to 21 billion yen ($236 million) forecast for the year.

They have been helped by good sales of a string of more recent titles including Chrono Trigger DS, Dragon Quest IV and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

Update: Square-Enix comments that the European release date for Final Fantasy FXIII has yet to be decided. A spokesperson from the European arm of Square Enix has told MCV: “The launch dates of FFXIII are still to be determined and will be revealed in due course. Please wait for future announcements.” Sounds like they don’t know it themselves yet. Although FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase did state that: “We have already started recording English voices, and also the text localisation has been in progress, too. Normally we complete the Japanese version first, then move on to the US and EU versions, but this time there are some tasks that are happening simultaneously. So this time we’re hoping to release sooner than a year later than the Japanese release.” That’s Christmas 2010 for Europeans.

This is ridiculous. It has been ages since the last games release, and now there expecting us to wait another year. I so pissed off.

Delyed… again. mcjakeqcool

aww u idiots, ps4 will b out b4 the next ff

I’m kinda sick of waiting for this game. Screwing with the fan’s minds and patients is a good way to get people to give up. I’ll still get this game as it’ll be one of the VERY few titles worth getting since Square Exil changed their name from Square Soft.

Final Fantasy is a huge hit among RPG players for PS3. But aren’t they seriously thinking to port this game for PC in coming years…

i can’t take it anymore I want more final fantasy but sometimes when a game takes to long to come its going to be good by the way all you final fantasy fans and dead or alive fans if you didn’t know go to youtube and type in deadfantasy its about dead or alive vs.final fantasy its really hot check it out

man this is taking forever to come out! oh well as long as it HAS a really REALLY LONG STORYLINE i dont care how much time they take!!!im a final fantasy fan AND I`LL ALWAYS BE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!so LONG LIVE FINAL FANTASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is takin a long time for it 2 come out but its goin be worth the wait i hope.I also hope it is long as final fantasy 12 or even longer, lol FINAL FANTASY RULES!!!

I’m not a final fantasy fan but who would play final fantasy on the 360 really who? It’s going to be a crapy port and its just microsoft paying square enix for the game to be on the 360 you know how bill gates payed around 50 million or so to have the grand theft dlc only on 360 for about 2 years or so.

They have the right to be making this game for along time because
1. There making 3 games in the XII series
2. Its Final Fantasy
3. If all you 360 fanboys want Final Fantasy 13 then thats going to take more time.
4. Its there game, they don’t even have to release it in america
So don’t be *ssholes and wait, and if you buy it for 360. you aren’t a Final Fantasy fan and should burn in hell. Buy a PS3 then get Final Fantasy 13,, you have plenty of time.
