Deadly Creatures is an upcoming Wii action adventure game that sees players controlling either a scorpion or a tarantula through realistic desert and man-made environments from the perspective of an insect . . . er, rather arachnids.

Deadly Creatures for WiiThe game looks extremely promising and has made my list as one Wii game that I’m definitely going to pick up among it’s release.

The game has some star-power with Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, The Alamo, Armageddon, Monster’s Ball) and Dennis Hopper (An American Carole, Swing Vote, Land of the Dead, Super Mario Bros.) providing voice over for the two creatures (yes, we’ll finally be able to see what scorpions and tarantulas are REALLY thinking).

In the game the scorpion is more of a brute-strength up-close fighter (that can swipe with his claws and bust through walls) while the tarantula is more of a stealth fighter complete with a long-distance pounce attack.

Naturally, in addition to exploring the game’s environments with a number of various moves to help you do so (the scorpion can burrow underground, the tarantula can shoot out webs to reach higher areas) you will also engage in some intense critter on critter combat.

When fighting you can pull of a number of combos and have various moves at your disposal. Standard attacks are done with the buttons but you can pull off additional attacks using motions on the Wii Remote & Nunchuck. You can even pull of some very cool looking finishing moves that are worthy of a game based on controller creepy crawly creatures.

As you progress through the game you will face off against some humongous, nasty bosses like a giant rattlesnake or a praying mantis. Overall, the game has me excited like few Wii titles, hopefully it can manage to be of AAA quality.
