Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3: Explorers of the Sky coming to Nintendo DS

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3 DS screenshot Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3 will be a new Nintendo DS game. Developer Chunsoft has been working on the next dungeon RPG in this Pokemon spin-off series.

The third installment in the series was announced in the January issue of the Japanese magazine Coro Coro. While almost no information is known about the game at this time, in the above screenshot you can see Riolu and Eevee walking in Treasure Town.

While in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness 491 out of 493 Pokemon were featured, it’s expected Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3 will add those two missing Pokemon that appeared in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Arceus and Shaymin along with new forms, plus Giratina’s and Rotom’s newly introduced forms.

January 13 update: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky will be released in Japan in Spring 2009 and will continue the story started in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness. The game will have 5 new starters, including ones from the previous games; 19 total, but 2 will be removed. The 5 new ones are: Phanpy, Evee, Riolu, Shinx, and Vulpix. New features include a future storyline with the mysterious return of Grovyle the Thief and the beginning of the Wigglytuff Guild with you playing as some of the founding members. — Thanks to DarkraiFan1 for the tips.

July 10 update: Nintendo announced that in North America the game will be released on October 12, 2009. Europe and Australia might not see release until 2010.

Hey, i heard the game is called Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky and there are 5 more pokemon to the original 16 these are Phanpy, Eevee, Riolu, Shinx & Vulpix. Is this any help Supadupagama?

Hey guys! I just saw on Serebii.net that there is only 19 starters so two of the old ones have been knocked out…!

It is also said that it contiues from PMD2 and that it has Dusknoir on it. Hey Josh, it’s weird because Sara’s PMD story says that Dusknoir is back and stuff.

Yep that’s right DarkraiFan1 and thanks again for another tip. I’ve added the info above and will credit you for it. I’m keeping my eye out for some scans of the magazine, so there should be pictures showing up here in the coming week.

Hey, what do you guys want to see in the new PMD3 game? I wan them to put in some fun mini games. They should also redo the Pokemon icons. It would also be cool if they made the Pokemon customizable, and if they would make dungeon floors a little more creative and not square like. They should also make the Pokemon head-like houses, I loved my house in PMD1! I also liked the friend areas! but not buying them XP but I liked how some of them looked, they were awesome, and it made the game a bit more realistic. I mean in PMD2 where would all of your 400 + partners go when they’re not in your team?!?
the friend areas would make it harder too, I had too much money in PMD2, it was pretty easy. They should make it so the town expands and gets bigger. more stores and places to go to in the town. They should also put some starter Pokemon that aren’t very popular. They should also improve the sprites! They look too 2-D!!!
I don’t think any of my Ideas will apear in the game, but it would still be cool!

So what do you guys want to see in the new game??? I really want to know

I hope Jordon isn’t right about that; if two starters are knocked out, I’m worried that Meowth might be one of them! I mean, Meowth was already taken out of Pokemon Ranger: Shadow of Almnia! Still, I shouldn’t think negatively.

What would I like to see in the game, Efren? Well, there should be relationships in the game, like there was kind of one between Celebi and Grovyle. Second, I think it would be cool if another human was turned into a Pokemon so that there are two in the game somehow. Third, I would really like it if you could either have more than four Pokemon in your group or just have four but have them be any size!
