Prince of Persia 5 will continue from Prince of Persia 4’s ending

Prince of Persia 5 fake boxartAfter the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Trilogy last generation, it’s no surprise developer Ubisoft would want to repeat that success formula with the recent Prince of Persia 4 release by making Prince of Persia 5 to follow up on the new storyline.

Obvious spoilers aside, their intentions have been confirmed by a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for another Xbox 360, PS3 & PC game in the series. Here’s what happens: After the Prince sees that Elika’s sealing away of the evil Ahriman means she must transfer her own life into the tree, which results in her dying again. He sees only one course of action remaining and cuts down the tree of life, just like Elika’s father the King did, in order to bring her back to life. Then a cutscene shows the Prince carrying Elika away from the crumbling Temple out into the desert, while behind them, the Temple is destroyed and the surrounding land corrupted as Ahriman is fully released. At the same time an achievement is unlocked titled “To Be Continued…” which is described as, and I quote: “Congratulations, the game is complete… the story has only just begun…”

You can watch a video recording of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely another Prince of Persia game is.

As you know, back in February 2009, Prince of Persia received downloadable content in the shape of an “Epilogue”. The video below will show that at the end Elika says bye to the Prince. This is the conversation they have that further hints at a sequel coming up.
Prince: “We’re through… I think we’re clear.”
Elika: “I couldn’t heal him. Ahriman was too strong…”
Prince: “Just because he’s growing stronger doesn’t mean – ”
Elika: ” – If I couldn’t stop him now, how can I ever hope to?! Ahriman is free and he will only grow more powerful…”
Prince: “We have to get out of here. If we cross the desert, there’s a city two, three days from here. Or, there’s a port… it’s further, but we could cross the sea, find somewhere further away.”
Elika: “Go where you will. May Ormazd watch over you.”
Prince: “Elika? You can’t do this alone!”
Elika: “I know… that is why I must find my people.” *Elika flies away*
Prince: “Elika!”
Narrator (Ahriman?): “The wheel turns… You cannot stand in its way… The light is dimming… It’s dimming…”

Excellent article, we will all be looking forward to the trilogy/sequel. PoP is awesome.

Prince of persia- Warrior Within was the best. if ubisoft can design a prince of persia 5 with the graphic design of p.o.p 5 but have the engine of the sands of time trilogy, it would be fantastic. hated the fighting, which there wasnt enough of, in p.o.p 4. the only good thing i can say about p.o.p 4 is the graphic design, but thats about it.

Warrior Within was definitely the best thus far, but that is not to say that I was disappointed with the newest one (or the other ps2 titles). Warrioir Within and Two Thrones were like completely new games compared to the first, with the double weapon system implemented. Speaking of which, I hope the combat is a bit revamped in any new PoP titles. *fingers crossed*

POP 4 ia awesome in graphics but UBISOFT have created this game too easy!!! I expect more frm POP new installments

i dont know if u guys answer it or not but what the hell is wrong with ubisoft making sands of time instead of finishing prince of persia 4 cuz epilogue cant be the finish of it isnt there another add on or something?

  • yousef

what the hell prince of persia is a nice game and so is 4 i know it is easy and little bit reptitive but in gamespot the score is eight it is more like deserve nine becuse of hard puzzle and and little hard bosses
and awesome sound and the graphics is amaizing well i agree it needs to be more like chalenging .well we hope it adds something new like when assian creed 2 was a lot more imporvement than 1 but how cares let the creators decide

why did ubisoft abandoned the sands of time trilogy and what happened to the dark prince

  • illusionjinx

@ oumarou – They original story (sands of time, warrior within, two thrones) has not been abandoned. Due soon is the next installment, “The forgotton sands”. it fills in the seven year lapse of time and information between sands of time and warrior within. The dark prince was really the normal prince, a split personality. The prince conquers this personality at the end of two thrones. In the mental realm, he ignores the dark prince and that part of his personality is more or less killed. The prince in 2008′s POP is totally unrelated (at least for now) and the story takes place in a different universe all together. Different time, differernt universe, different prince. Everywhere I look, I am told that the new prince is unrealted at all to the original prince, but I have a sneaking suspicion that somehow, through a paradox universe, the two must be connected. Maybe not, but I can def see the two crossing realitys somewhere in a game down the line.

this is the 21 century but i dont understand the prince. i mean look at Fara come and gone, same with Elika. is there no romance like a kiss. the prince is grown and mature.

Actually, the 5th game will be Sands of Time related, not new prince related. illusionjinx described it so i won’t repeat what he has said.I’m guessing it’s a marketing choice to make one last Sands of Time game in hope that moviegoers that will watch and enjoy the movie might also pick up the latest (and probably last) installment in the Sand of Time series. Ubisoft will probably continue the new prince’s story at some point in the next years.
