Gran Turismo 5 release date might be 2010 says Kazunori Yamauchi

The Gran Turismo series has been a hallmark of the Sony PlayStation ever since the original’s release on the PS1 way back in 1998.

But so far the series has only appeared on the PlayStation 3 in incomplete prologue form as “Gran Turismo 5: Prologue“, which initially was going to be a kind of preview to the main course, but has now taken form as pretty much a bona-fide entry in the series.

However the true sequel, Gran Turismo 5, will not be released for some time according to series producer Kazunori Yamauchi in a new interview where he says the game will probably not be released until 2010!

Here’s the full quote:

As good as Prologue is, what can we expect in the full version of GT 5?
To be honest, I haven’t given a lot of thought to GT 5, so I don’t have an answer. And it’s too early to talk about GT 5 because we still have updates coming out for Prologue.

Is there an ETA on GT 5?
It won’t be this year and nothing’s scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven’t really discussed it yet.

2010..2011..this game will never appear, small wonder Sony is broke. It was supposed to appear in 2007. Three years late is ridiculous, and I refuse to buy the demo ‘prologue’. Since buying my PS3, I’ve saved a fortune in games.
