Call of Duty: World at War downloadable content release soon

Activision has plans to continue supporting it’s top-selling Call of Duty: World At War game with downloadable content (DLC) via paid packs like they did with Call of Duty 4.

However World at War may not get only one pack, but up to three “when all is said and done” reports MTV.

They also said that they will be doing DLC a little differently this time, stating that “It’s not going to be what we’ve done traditionally”, leaving us to speculate on what that could be. Which could be anything from new single-player content to new weapons and maps, but all of that seems pretty par for the course so we’ll have to wait and see what they have in the wings. Considering the fantastical “zombie Nazi” mode that unlocks once you’ve beaten the game, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they did some pretty wild things for the DLC.

As far as release date, they haven’t given one, but Call of Duty 4 didn’t receive it’s first map pack until five months after it’s release.

Update March 19, 2009: The Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 is now available for download on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Players will fight through the burning streets of Berlin in “Nightfire,” take position in the deadly jungles of “Knee Deep” and carefully traverse the bombed out underground of “Station.” The Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will also add another heart-pounding chapter to the four-player co-op Nazi Zombie mode with “Verrückt” (Zombie Asylum).

The map pack is available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 800 Microsoft Points and on the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 3 for $9.99. The Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will be made available for Windows PC at a future date to be announced.

Update May, 2009: Call of Duty: World At War Map Pack 2 will be released this June for for Xbox 360 and PS3.

you know all of this seems normal, but you know a cool thing to do with cod waw, would be to totally reanitualize all of the maps completely, and of cource patch all of the glitches. but more maps would be good enough of cource. comming from a loyal cod fan! lol
