Child’s Play charity 2008 has launched

Child's Play Charity LogoThe Child’s Play Charity has launched their 2008 campaign to help Children’s Hospitals all across America and even in select locations across the globe.

If you haven’t heard of Child’s Play, they are a gamer created community-based charity where over 100,000 gamers world wide have contributed to the tune of $1.3 million dollars in donations last year. Started in 2003, gamers have banded together to donate toys, games, books and cash for sick kids in children’s hospitals.

For 2008, the charity has expanded even further by adding 10 new hospitals across the United States and Canada. Like before, you can choose a hospital from the map (click the charity name above to go to the official site) and either purchase items that the hospital has specifically requested from their online retailers wish lists or you can choose to simply make a cash donation that will go towards helping Child’s Play hospitals everywhere. Any items you purchase through Amazon will be shipped directly to your hospital of choice, you just need to make sure that you enter the shipping address of the hospital rather than your own address (and do it through the Child’s Play web-site, naturally).

So be sure to go and contribute! In addition to going to an extremely worthy cause (helping to improve the lives of sick children in hospitals), contributing also helps to show the world that gamers are compassionate people and that we can make a REAL and TANGIBLE difference to improve the world we live in. Every bit helps and adds up, so I urge you to donate today! Remember, it’s not about the amount that you donate, but rather that you did your part.
