Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2′s ending

Resistance 3 PS3 fake boxart As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

wat if hale becomes great leader of chimera and right before chimera win he turns on them and they find a cure that would be an interesting ending dont you think

well i think that it would be awesome to make another…but…it wouldnt be as interesting if we didnt play as hale…cause by the looks of the ending…he dies…so good luck with coming up with some idea =] lol

I don’t see why so many people think it’s a problem that Hale died. After all Nathan had a poor character. Hell, even that sergeant had more personality then him.

After examening the intel once more. I think that the towers were there to move the entire Earth over a great distance. This explains the strange sky. And a lot of the words of Deadalus

I think the towers are build by a thirth race(maybe the cloven, but i believe they are pure chimera) and they used these towers to move the Earth closer to the sun, probable to a other galaxy. Because the Earth now has a warmer climate the Chimera was forced to hide under the ground.

With the Tunguska meteor strike, a virus was brought to the earth. This virus somehow made the Chimera more adaptable to the climate. So they take over Russia then Europe and eventually the rest of the world.

Now Deadalus wants to use the towers to move the planet back to his previous location. And wants to use the Prometheus weapon to eliminate the people that did this to the Chimera. I honestly think that mankind was just a unfortunate bystander, most likely because we weren’t really a powerfull race back then. The removal of the Chimeran threat caused us to flourish.

Deadalus somehow knows this. And after his defeat Hale took over this knowledge and now wants to finish Deadalus plan. Capelli shoots him, but Hale survives and escapes. He takes the lead over the Chimera and wants to finish the plan. Around this time you probably get to know more of the thirth race. They are fighting with the Chimerean race and the SRPA does to but not with the help of that thirth race. After a while the thirth race starts to thrust you and this allaince causes the final defeat for the Chimerean race.

Get to think of it. I think there is no thirth race. I think those that are referred to as the thirth race are the Cloven. Maybe Earth was some sort of prison. That the Earth was a place to abandon the “bad Cloven”. Now known as the Chimera. Of course they had to putt these prison far away from their world so, they moved it to our galaxy.

um know how they said there calling to us if you check the last intel document it says that the chimera fought a diffrent race so i think the chimera were on earth and that other race came to fight and the chimera said we wont win so the chimera left to another planet and but malikov revived the chimera with dna and the chimera said he this is a race that we can infect to gather more troops to fight these other guys but there calling to us means the other planets that the chimera fled to to hide from yhe other race an now the other chimera are coming to earth to get ready for the other race

the intel reports that (malikov says this i believe) earth was a type of battleship or fort the chimera used and teleported around. That is probably why there are so many hangers and weapons factories all over earth, because it was their fort.

Also, cloven aren’t the third race yet…
They are accidental recombination of chimera and human dna which resulted in humans that act like chimera (coop bracknell intel says a chimera fort was attacked by cloven and found that the chimera were killed by short bladed knives and devoured.)
However, other intel also states that some have the ability to become invisable and others are nearly bulletproof. Therefore i think that they might evolve into the third race somehow, or they might become a fourth race.

since earth was teleported instantaneously, the humans should be able to look back at earth (if they know where it is) and see millions of years ago to
1. see if darwin or jesus was right
2. watch chimeran weapons and tactics at height of their power

to get a lot of the story you have to unlock the co-op intel, not just the main campaign intel. there is a lot more information in the co-op
