Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2′s ending

Resistance 3 PS3 fake boxart As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

i agree with alot of you guys i love r2 i play it non stop but face it nathan is dead do you think you could survive a bullet to a head chimera or not your dead in the game you shoot chimera in the head all the time and they die. sheperd same story as nathan he got infected and he is dead did you see all the blood and brains fly out when he was shot he is dead! if they do make r3 make capeli the main charcter ill still buy it defenitly. and the game wouldnt suck without hale and you never know maybe hale accualy did survive and stays a chimera like sheperd and you have to like battle him at the end or something but i know one thing have him as a alie yeah he should be in the game but as a enemy a chimera i would tottaly buy that and if you really like reseitance you would to.

hey r2 is my favourite ps3 game but what did malikov say about the second original test subject in bryce canyon was it hale and deadalus coud hale slowly repare himself and srpa finds a cure you never know just an odd guest

it should have
ended when he touched dead deadalus that should of been the cure to the disease then hale was cured and at the end it showed a chimera ship that made it to a diffrent town and the infection started again just like dadalus said this is just the begining

guys, hale isnt dead. When hale got shot, he is surrviving it by his chimeara health. Capelli is taking Hale to a lab , and once there hale escapes. When he escaped, he is going to further the plans of daedalus, and you will be playing capelli, to stop Hale and the chimeara ruling the earth.
so 1. You will be playing capelli
2. Hale isnt death, he is only a chimeara
3. Eventually you will have to kill Hale i think, yah its bad he was like my hero to

i think doing the roundabout thing from hale to shepard and now hale with capelli as the pc would be dumb. if they are going to finish off this trilogy right you would eventually have to do something like killing the leader of all leaders. like whoever is “calling” hale and shepard, or blowing up their main hq to the point where they cant come back from it. a mission accomplished save the world type ending. capelli was badass enough to where id like to play as him. hale was fun but it seems to be like sw. epi 1-3 are about vader as good. 4-6 are vader as bad. seeing as hale is dead (some miracle revival would be too contrived. let him die a hero) the final chapter(s) should be about capelli finishing the job.

Hmm well the thing i sayd was officially announced so i think it is goin to be like this. It would be logical, Hale didnt die so youll be happy but at the other side you have to kill him .. its the ultimate story and this is going to be so cool, man i never playd a horror-trilogy with this kind of story man its amazing so nice ,, i hope hale wont die and become normal but i fear that aint gonna be

Hale may be dead and R3 WILL SUCK!, Hale is the best and now he got better by turning into the godlike Chimera, then he dies???

BS if you ask me, I want atleast a Chimeran storyline or something, Im sick of playing as these pathetic humans
