Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2’s ending

As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

Resistance 3 would not play any longer in the 50s, but in modern times. Like Call of Duty, the Resistance, so a big jump in time to make. This news may be subject to rumor, but this would be likely to correct.

While the Resistance series very fun, Insomniac will probably not be exactly the same formula. A jump of several decades in the future would not only be a very interesting story to offer (which remains left of humanity), but also in gameplay terms, this would certainly be a fresh wind.

ok.. you guys got some of the story but.. i got the real one. jun-seung is right partially. hale does try to take the world but he has a real army behing him . they are actually HUMAN!! and plus he still has the chimara… in 3 the entire game is based in huge battle grounds and you are fighting in what seems like a real war. you have the SRPA on your side and the super humans and the kimara team up to take over the world.you actually play as a normal soldier. (no more crazy powers sorry) and you go through more men than you can immagine.it may sound crazy that i know all this but it IS the truth.and by the way it comes out in 2010.. ITS GONNA BE AWESOME OH AND IT IS GOING TO STAY IN THE 1950′S…i know it sucks!!!

how could resistance 3 suddenly go into modern times when they’re still at war,and the whole world is getting destroyed..lol..it wouldnt make sense if they made resistance 3 in modern times coz then the story would be different..
hmm..it does look like hale dies at the end though..haha xD

Hello i came to this website and im the producer of Resistance:fall of man and Resistance 2 well importantly there will be Resistance 3 but not in 2010 it will be in 2009 it will start buying in December 23rd oh and in 2010 we were thinking about a boy told us to make Resistance 2 Remake its like halo you be a Human then later you get to be the Chimera thats all what i can do so i hope that u will get happy soon
