Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2′s ending

Resistance 3 PS3 fake boxart As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

I believe he does come back from the head shot, but you do play as Capelli. While you (Capelli) are trying to find a cure, Nathan Hail is trying to track you down for revenge. WHO WILL COME OUT IN THE END??? i dont know, all i know is that it will be awsome!!!

That seems really plausible. However, Hale may not be looking for revenge but he would want to conquer earth as the new king or ruler of the chimera. Or Insominac might just do something way out there. You never really know. I thought Nathan would hove been hailed as a National Hero blah, blah. It was that alien he touched that gave him those powers and more of a chimerian touch as he (it can be assumed) lost touch with humanity in a sense.

The sooner Resistance gets sold to Microsoft the better, for the good of the gameplay, and for the sake of Sony not going bancrupt, however I recon that Sony will go bancrupt wether or not they do sell Resistance to Microsoft, and the end of the day, Microsoft’s profits are up, and Sony’s down. Nuff said. JQ

I think resistance will return with a new character who goes into russia where it all started. I also think it will have a lot about the cloven in it.

It’s obviously Hale is dead, he’s not going to come back and you’re not going to play as Capelli; Cappeli’s trademark is his wraith (minigun) that means you will start every level with the wraith, and thats not going to happen.
Maybe you will play with de guy from Resistance Retribution… or an totally new character.

But the bigger question is: where is it going to be?
-Amerika is almost down, the liberty defence line was broken.
-Europa is totally gone, only little resistance groups are there. The have no base and by that the are not really a big enemy for the Chimera’s.
-UK already conquert in FoM, but still a good fortyfied place. There are still rebellions there.
-Hawai; seems an good place but as you can read it in R2 al survivors are gone there. How? non knows.
-Austraila is already conquert, read in R2.
-Afrika already conquert, read in R2.
It’s obiouvsly that China and co are conquert, because they came from Russia.

So where to go?
-Japan, maybe the hold stand, it’s easy to defend with an defence line.
-South-Amerika, this name isnt being called in R2..
-North of Canada or Greenland, guerilla attacks?
-North- south icecap. Hard to survive for human but where else?

Quess it’s going to be a question for a long time.

And what about Deadalus? Is he really dead, by severall electric shocks? He didnt had any vital damage.
But if he’s dead, who’s gone lead the Chimera?
