Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2’s ending

As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

I will not tell my sources on this info

Nathan Hail survives the shot to the head and falls on the ground healing. (like deadoules before Nathan steals his power).
Cappeli leves in the ship that they crashed.
NATHAN HAIL LIVES !!!!

That is all that has been confirmed. There a several possabilitys that could happen.

1 There is another planet of chimera.
2 Another alien race (three way war)
3 Nathan Hail teams up with chimera to kill Cappeli
4 The Doctor invents a cure to change hail back to human.

One or more of these things WILL happen in resistance 3.

Think whatever you want but don’t be supprised if any of these happen.

I agree hale will survive. i think that the head shot will make hale go into a coma and he will reappear but this time with new powers to fight this new type of chimara but i think that he would still be a hybrid because in the coma his body would stop the progression of the virus and thats how the doctor will find a cure.

i dont think hale will return, i think you will play as the guy who killed him. I think what the developers have tried to do is shake the whole stereotype of in a series u always play as the same character like Halo, and plus they show so much character development in Cappelli which aint normal for a secondary character so they must have something planned for him, and i was dissapointed the british girl werent in the 2nd 1 (eventhough i played 2nd than 1st) i thought she was good and the whole still picture talking thing was a good touch

I disagree with you there. It has been confirmed that hail survives the shot to the head. And the guy that killed him is not the main player. But i thought that untill my mate from insomanic told me. To let every one know Hail does become a hybrid but it is still to be confirmed if he stays like that.

i think that hail does heal with daedulus’s powers and that the story runs like this: that narrator woman in fall of man and retribution tells the storycapelli and with the help of the other senitials you try to stop hale from killing everyone, the doc finds a cure for the virus even if they have allready changed into the chimera and the species that fought the chimera before come back on that red moon,that was at the end of R2 behind hale, and they try to obliterate the chimera and us so that they can have this planet because when they were fighting the chirmera before the chimera said” lets get the hell out of here” and ran away in their ships and the other race followed the so that they wouldn’t come back to destroy them but then the chimera kiled them with a suprise attack and it has taken them millions of years to get back here.

P.S. I hope this happens

First off, Nathan Hail was named after the world famous Nathan’s hot-dog…I cannot believe some of you could forget that >.<

Second, Daedulous, or deadoules or however you spell his name is a twin of hail, that is why hail looked at him and that is why the trailer is called ” The Twins” or something like that.

Third off, y’all silly.

And last, but not least, what ever happened to that mysterious African American soldier who only appeared in the co-op mode in RFOM, but would not show up in the cut-scenes?

I honestly dont know where to start on that bullshit.1 Nathan hail was not named after a hotdog world or what ever.2 private jordan sheppard is deadulous and the are and never will be twins. 3 agree with that where did he go?
