Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2’s ending

As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

How the hell is resistance 3 gonna be a xbox360 exclusive if the first two were ps3 exclusives, DUH!, f*ckin use ur heads, damn, anyway i think their will be a resistance 3 because ( keep in mind because of the situation i live in i havent finished the game yet, even tho ive had it since it came out) the chimera are not finished off yet so the threat is still their and hale was kinda far in the conversion process, plus im pretty sure normal humans who get converted don’t start talking like daedalus, and he wasnt necisarily evil yet, he just had a new view on things

just finnished resistance 2 on the superhuman diffuclty, i love the ending, awesome how he becomes the same as daudallus.. cos at the start that professer dude (the one who keeps poppin shots of his shotty off into me) said sumthin about how 2 were created like that, one being daedallus the other he says “i think you already know” being you.. so pretty sweet,

i rekon resistance 3 will be directly after 2 with u playing as capelli (however u spell it) .. seeing as he is also one of the soldiers resisting the disease and undergoing inhibitor treatment.. and he is the only survivor of the 4 man squad. im just snowballing tho, if any 1 has anything to sah email me.. minority18392@hotmail.com

i dont think hale is ded. yh bullet through the brain but remeber hes was infected with the ancient chimera. i reckon he’ll be in resistance 3 on the good side and capelli the bad guy

What the hell are u guys talkin about??
It is going to be a PS3 exclusive and will feature a new race called the Rotunda. I know this because my dad is the chief developer. It will (hopefully)come out November 2009. You play as Capelli for the first part and parker(from the first one) for the second part. you team up with the Rotunda with Capelli and the chimera with parker. Complicated but should be good. 1080p so good quality and longer than the previous two.Enjoy. I know I will. Oh yeah first level you Play as the rotunda fighting the chimera and there are some sic new guns.

if next resistance comes out it cannot be a xbox360 exclusive because sony is developer of the game.

i dont think they sell it to microsoft
