Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2′s ending

Resistance 3 PS3 fake boxart As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

you could be back in england as cartwright from the first one, on the subget of witch how the hell did he survive being attacked by the giant spider (forgot what its called) it praticly stabed right though him he must be partly chimara too

They should have the 3rd one start off with some of the more advanced chimera finding hales body and taking it to one of their space ships and bringing him back to life as a half chimera half robot kind of thing and have u play as hale who turns agianst the chimera and like fights his way off the ship and when he finaly does get off the ship a group of outcast soldiers find him and hale like fights a bunch more Daedalus creatures… i forgot wut they were called… but once he kills all of them creatures… the chimera start retreating back to there planet… which can be the fourth one…. hale, a group of awesome soldiers, and the chimeran home planet

i agree with u about bringing hale back he is the main character it would be a rubbish game with out him and there should be a third race created by chimera which turns against the chimera and humans so its a triple threat and in the end the chimera capture hale and bring him to there home planet (as seen in R2 ) and the humans go there to get him back and so do the over race but they go to kill hale . and then the battle on the chimearan planet can be R4

In my opinion the chimera are already fighting a third race and are bringing in the earth chimera to fight the race that they are at war with. But the humans will fight against the chimera on the other races side. In my opinion hale isn’t dead but is actually like Daedaulus and is invincible but not evil.

No, Resistance 3 will not be on the Xbox 360, the Resistance & R&C (IG) series will remain exclusive to the PS3

resistance 3 will not be on xbox 360 resistance is exclusive to ps3 and gears of war is exclusive to xbox 360 so for xbox 360 will be gears of war 3 in 2010

this is off the subject, but on 3/25/09, during GDC, IG will be releasing information on the upcoming DLC & patch for R2
