Resistance 3 rumored to continue from Resistance 2′s ending

Resistance 3 PS3 fake boxart As far back as October 2007, there have been Resistance 3 rumors by the likes of Surfer Girl and CVG that suggested that Resistance 2 would feature a cliff-hanger ending paving the way for a third game in the series.

Now that Resistance 2 will be out worldwide this week, fans of the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS are beginning to finish the campaign. Guess what they are finding out? That developer Insomniac Games saying the game tells “the story of Nathan Hale in his last 19 hours to live” where more than foreshadowing. But that’s not how it ends, in fact, Hale’s last words in Resistance 2 are — and I quote — “Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It’s beautiful. [...] This is just the beginning.”

Obvious spoilers aside, you can watch a camera recording by Slaesil of the ending below (it’s the only ending, there are no alternatives) and judge for yourself how likely a Resistance Trilogy is…

PS: My guess would be that Resistance 3 will be announced in 2009 and released by 2010. Especially with Insomniac mentioning in past interviews that they are enjoying their current Ratchet & Clank / Resistance yearly rotation.

Update October 12, 2009: Neogaffer Goldsounz snapped a photo of a Resistance 3 billboard for an upcoming movie that takes place in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s logo. The logo has the Statue of Liberty in the middle, thus showing the game at least partly takes place in New York, America. To quote: “I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

This is sorta ridiculous, but if IG could pull this off it would be sweet! Anyways, i think they should make it where Nathan will turn fully infected and join the chimera and fight the sentinels/humans, meanwhile the Dr. finds a semi-cure that will return Hale back to the sentinels. So the Dr. gives the cure to Capelli to inject into Nathan. then it goes back and forth where after a while of being semi-cured he returns to being fully infected and goes back to the chimera.

And i would like to see the cloven some how incorporated into this

Gosh people read your intel the Dr. (Malikov) killed himself(so no cure) also hale was shot in the head and if you listened at theend u could hear his body hit the ground showing that he didn’t heal fast enough.

I have a great starting that could be used that I thought of,,, it isnt really out of the ordinary it just combines with the conversion centres in the first Resistance and the recreation of Nathan Hail. I am a big fan of Resistance and I dont really want this to be the end of him .

all of u are idiots, if it carries on which i hope it does but there are no plans i think that dead hale maybe gets found by some chrymara and gets converted, you play as one of the crymaras, super powerly and become the leader of them , then you turn against chrymara as the human instioncts kick in and bang them all yea.

i heard that hale, being that he was half and half at the end, was enough of chimaran that he has the healin powers and when he falls the chimara find him and heal him, in just coming back for a third installment.
i know this because my brother in law was part of the resistance 2 making he was partly in charge of the cg.
