Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 5 Wii, split-screen co-op discussed in video interview

A new interview from the Tokyo Game Show 2008 has the developers of Resident Evil 5 discussing some interesting things!

In particular, they discuss the inevitable Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 5 coming to the Wii, and their general thoughts on the Wii system, the newly announced split-screen co-op for Resident Evil 5 gameplay offline, and you even get to see a quick cut-scene glimpse of Albert Wesker!

February 2009 update: Resident Evil 5 producer, Masachika Kawata, visited Capcom Europe’s office in London for interviews while it was snowing outside. Driving through the slushy streets of the UK capital seems to have had a profound effect on Mr. Kawata, because when The Guardian newspaper asked him if he had any locations in mind for Resident Evil 6, he replied: “Why not London?”

Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi told Official PlayStation Magazine “I think Resident Evil 5 doesn’t need to change the series, but Resident Evil 6 will have to reinvent the series with another full model change or else it won’t be able to keep on going.”

Another Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata told The Gadget Show “We haven’t decided whether we’re going to make Resident Evil 6 yet. But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years [to make Resident Evil 6], but hopefully only four.”

I’m sorry, but if they tried porting this to the Wii, one of two things would happen.

1. The game would look like complete crap.
2. Your Wii would explode just from loading the main menu.

Is not true, is not entearly about the graphic, I work in video games and can tell you that is actually posible to do it. Is a little hard, but still works. the graphic wont be as cool as the other two, but i really dont care about that. I enjoy tthe game not the graphic. thats about real playing.

For those who think it will look like crap on the Wii, you seriously need to shut up. Take a look at RE4… One of the best looking games on ALL consoles, yet it looked amazing on the Wii and did amazing. All RE games have been on Nintendo’s systems and I don’t see them NOT putting it on the Wii. It will look just fine on the Wii.

resident evil 5 would look like diahrrea on the wii. The wii couldn’t handle the graphics, it would over load. So what if other resident evil games have been on the GC? It wouldn’t work on the wii, and everyone knows it. And if you believe it would, then you are kidding yourself, because it wouldn’t.

graphics do not matter to me and RE5 and even RE6 will be amazing on the Wii. The controlls for RE4 on the Wii were heavenly and made the game really fun. Also its true that the graphics can be “downgraded” to meet optimal performance on the Wii, for those of you worried about it blowing up.

The only thing the Wii wouldn’t be able to do is display the game in HD, and after playing my XBox for the last year or so in HD I don’t see it having a huge effect on the overall look and atmosphere of the game. There might be a slight reduction in polygon counts for some of the characters, but that can be concealed by good programmers (to a certain extent). I have played the demo of RE5 on my XBox, and I have to say the control scheme is apalling after having played RE4 on the Wii, even going back to my old GC version of RE4 after playing with the Wii scheme is a horrible backwards step, but before I played the Wii version I got on with it fine, so I see this as progress. It might not look quite as pretty on the Wii, but for better controls I can live with that, and to be honest, I’ll bet most people wouldnn’t notice a great deal of difference anyway if they are honest (but being fanatical fanboys I wouldn’t expect them to be)

thats awesome! them porting RE5 and RE6 on wii. the game will be so cool. and i have RE4 on wii and there is nothing wrong with the graphics and the controls are great. so RE5 and RE6 will be AWESOME no matter what you ******* say. RE5 is awesome and would be just as good on wii
