Ninja Blade is appearing at TGS ‘08 in fine form as you can see in this three part developer walkthrough videos where they show off the game for the first time since it’s announcement.
Ninja Blade is under development by From Software (makers of Armored Core and Tenchu, among others) and is being billed as a “cinematic action game“. And while that might seem like a throwaway label, what’s shown within the first few minutes of gameplay during this developer walkthrough proves that the label is not only literal but completely fitting to what’s happening on-screen, as you must press buttons to succeed in the on-screen actions and it gives you the feel of playing a cut-scene to dramatic effect.
Watch the videos below for some sweet footage of the game including a look at the game’s weapons and combat system and the insane “fighting while running down the side of a building” events. And while similarities to Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden are inevitable, you’ll notice that the game has a much slower, more deliberate pace and a style all it’s own. It kind of reminds me of a much prettier mix between the aforementioned Ninja Gaiden and the PS2 Shinobi series. Ninja Blade won’t hit until 2009 in Japan (no announcement for release outside Japan yet, but it only makes sense given the sales of Ninja Gaiden II on the platform) but give the walkthrough videos a look and get hyped for some cinematic ninja action!
