Little Big Planet’s 50 levels will take over 12 hours to complete

Pre-order Little Big Planet for PS3In a recent interview with Little Big Planet developer Media Molecule’s Jim Unwim, the interface designer revealed some interesting facts about the PlayStation-3 exclusive cutesy puzzle platformer with an (online) world creator twist.

Little Big Planet’s level count will be “Around 50-ish. There’ll be an interlinking story, too, so it’s not just a random selection of levels. About the first half of the game is one long tutorial, introducing you to all the gameplay mechanics in the game.”

Mr. Unwim added: “It takes me about 12 hours to complete all the levels, and I’ve been developing the game for the past however-many months. So expect it to take a bit longer than that.” Outside of the in single- and up to 4-player multiplayer developer-made levels, no one should forget about the game’s global community features through the PlayStation Network that allow all players to directly or indirectly interact and share their levels, own additions to the game’s usable art catalog, and other in-game modifications.

Achievement junkies are catered to as well, since “50 trophies are included with Little Big Planet.” While a worldwide release is expected in October 2008, so far only the European release date has been confirmed as October 29th.

The Americans are avoiding this game like the plague. If it were made more appealing to them or, of course, had a name change, then it might prove better.
