Online Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game: Champions of the Force announced
An online Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game has been launched within the Star Wars Galaxies MMO with the release of the first set of cards called “Champions of the Force”.
The Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game - Champions of the Force Set is the first ever TCG (Trading Card Game) to be available exclusively online in virtual form. The trading card game is available to all current and former subscribers to the Star Wars Galaxies MMO, giving them a new gameplay experience that combines the challenge of a traditional TCG game with the sense of adventure and community that only an MMO such as Star Wars Galaxies can offer.
Features of the Star Wars Galaxies Champions of the Force TCG are:
* Choose between the light and dark sides of the Force and build your own Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game decks to fight virtual matches for the Rebel, Imperial, Jedi or Sith
* Enhance your digital card decks with 15-card Booster Packs
* Find more than 20 “loot” cards in the first release, Champions of the Force, that can be redeemed for fantastic virtual items for use within the Star Wars Galaxies massively multiplayer game for players with a Star Wars Galaxies account
* Challenge your skills in story-based solo-play or against other Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game players in epic one-on-one matches, cooperative Heroic Encounters, and official tournaments.
* More than 250 unique virtual cards to collect, all feature beautifully detailed Star Wars artwork depicting scenes from the story-based Solo Mode.
* In Solo Mode battle through 10 scenarios revolving around an ancient Jedi holocron, the Codex of Tython, which you must work to reassemble and ultimately use against your enemies.
If you’re a paid subscriber to the game then you are currently eligable to automatically recieve five digital trading card Booster Packs each month to help you build the ultimate deck to crush your friends with. This is provided to subscribers at no additional cost.
If you have yet to try out Star Wars Galaxies, you can do so via the Star Wars Galaxies 14-Day Trial which will also allow players to try the new Star Wars TCG “Champions of the Force” from within the game (or download a free trial of the standalone TCG game), although in a limited capacity that includes a tutorial and practice games with a virtual Starter Card Deck. The free trial also includes all the content from not only the base Star Wars Galaxies game but also it’s two expansion packs: An Empire Divided and Jump to Lightspeed. The trial lasts for two weeks.
As an added bonus for those Star Wars Galaxies players that decide to try the new TCG, they will recieve a free loot card that can be redeemed for either a Rebel or Imperial flight suit.
