Gears of War 2 downloadable content coming soon after launch

Gears of War 2 downloadable content (DLC) is currently in the works for Gears of War 2 and is coming “soon” after the game’s release on November 7th this year; As was revealed in a recent interview by the game’s creator, Cliff Bleszinski.

Cliffy B. confirmed that the downloadable content being worked on is “multiplayer map focused” and will make it’s release within Gears of War 2′s “release window timeframe”. Epic, the game’s publisher, has not said much about the pricing though for the upcoming DLC.

This is interesting due to the fact that downloadable content is always something that has traditionally been created for AFTER a game’s release, yet recently developers have been treading towards starting work on DLC even BEFORE the game has released! So that when it does, there will already be additions to come. Many games even have new DLC release day and date with the debut of the game.

Gears of War 2 will be released in both a regular and a Limited Edition. The Gears of War 2 Limited Edition will include: an alternate cover, a steelbook case, a bonus content DVD, a book entitled “Beneath the Surface: An Insider Look at Gears of War 2, additional concept art, additional story information, a keepsake photo of Dom and Maria and an exclusive Xbox Live code to unlock a gold-plated Lancer rifle for online play.

But THAT’S NOT ALL. In addition to the Gears of War 2: Limited Edition, there is an Amazon-exclusive Gears of War 2 – Lancer Bundle. This version includes a lifesize Lancer replica! If you insert three “C” batteries into the game, then you can even pull the trigger and the gun will emit a chainsaw noise! It also features a removable clip and an adjustable side handle on the rifle.

The gun prop was designed by NECA, which is the same company behind the Gears of War action figure line. The lifesize replica was created using the in-game 3D model so it’s as accurate as can be.

The pre-order one-ups the Halo 3: Legendary Edition (which came with a replica of Master Chief’s helmet that doubled as a case) by selling for $139.99! If you pre-order the Gears of War 2 – Lancer Bundle on Amazon then you’ll receive the standard edition of Gears of War 2 free. Throw in another $10 though and you’ll get the Lancer Bundle in addition to a copy of the Gears of War 2: Limited Edition.

I am a huge fan of GEARS OF WAR. As soon as I get off from work, Gears is the first thing that comes to mind. Gears of War 2 is an awsome sequal to the original, but there are a few minor promblems that seems to reoccur in gameplay. The blindfire,strength,and direction of the shotgun is not as good as the original Gears of War. In Gears 2 the shotgun seems to point downwards. Also in Gears of War 2 there are many bugs to consistly effects not only gameplay but the players as well. The percentage of players drastically began to decline because of these glitches. Also the downlaodable maps are awesome but being a huge Gears of War fan I want to look for new things to enjoy or something that will make me even more excited to play. ( Im sure I speak for all Gears fans) Maybe a new character for theLocus or possibly a new sequal to the story to bring the new characters to the game. I hope you can take some of my ideas in consideration for the future of Gears Of War.
