Sony has announced a new 160GB PS3 model that will come bundled with Uncharted: Drakes Fortune for $499 this November and will only be available for a limited time, they announced at the Leipzig Games Convention 2008 Sony Press Conference in Germany.
The increased hard drive space will allow gamers to store more movies (which Sony allows you to buy, download and keep), TV shows, games and whatever else you decided to download off the PlayStation Network. Or anything else you want to put on it, such as music, videos or photos.
Here is what the 160GB Uncharted Bundle will contain:
* 160GB PlayStation 3 system -A complete entertainment system comprising a Blu-ray Disc player, HDMI output, an integrated Wi-Fi connection, and Cell Broadband Engine.
* Uncharted: Drakes Fortune video game - A 400-year-old clue found in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake sets a modern-day fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, on an exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The search turns deadly when Drake becomes stranded on the island and hunted by mercenaries. Outnumbered and outgunned, Drake and his companions must fight to survive as they begin to unravel the terrible secrets hidden on the Island.
* DualShock 3 Wireless Controller - The DualShock 3 wireless controller provides the most intuitive game play experience with pressure sensors in each action button and the inclusion of the highly sensitive Sixaxis motion sensing technology.
* A PlayStation Network Voucher for PAIN - PAIN boldly tackles a rarely explored area of video-gaming … comedy. The unique mechanic of the game allows the player to load a character into a human-sized, ultra-powerful slingshot, and fire the character into an active, physics-controlled environment, filled with precarious and humorous situations. Download PAIN from PlayStation Store to your PS3 system with the included voucher.
“As PLAYSTATION Network continues to evolve with our recently launched video delivery service and more exclusive games, PS3 owners are demanding more storage capacity,” said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. “Consumers also are utilizing PS3 as an entertainment hub for their digital media, placing content such as their entire music collection on the hard drive. The 160GB PS3 system addresses this growing consumer demand in a compelling bundle that delivers significant value.”
The new game system is just in time as well, as a whole slew of AAA PS3 games are on the horizon, including: LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Killzone 2 and Buzz: Quiz TV. And PlayStation Network games including Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEAL’s Confrontation and The Last Guy.
These some great already released PS3 games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Grand Theft Auto 4.
LOL
Wasnt the 80gig enough??
Anyway, Im might get a 80gig(used) anyway for the BC to play ps2 games.
Haha, I know huh. I too will not buy a PS3 unless it has backwards compatibility. Though I would prefer to get the PS3 that contains the Emotion Engine so the backwards compatibility is from hardware not software, so I’ll probably be getting the 60 gig.
I’ve also heard it’s “easy” to swap the hard drive for a bigger one, course opening it up will make your warranty void.
Wait??
Whats the diffence from “Hardware BC” and “Software BC” I want to know becuse I would like to have like all the games(or most of them) from my PS2. Is Hardware better than sofware?????
Hardware BC is superior, it is the only one that is FULLY BC, and only on the 60GB model. Basically, it’s like there’s a PS2 inside the PS3. The old 80GB version which is being phased out uses software to do the BC which means that only games that are programmed into it will run. It’s like having an emulator instead.
I still won’t buy a Playstation 3 unless it has built in backwards capability. I don’t own a Playstation and Playstation 2 anymore. It is unlikely Sony are doing repairs for the original Playstation console. The model of PS2 I liked and had, but possibly do not repair is the orginal/ non slim version. Which I used to play Final Fantasy XI: Online on (the game blows chunks), but having a hard drive in the PS2 was great. I don’t like the clutter of consoles unless they were different brand that I would like to have. i.e Playstation and Nintendo Wii. The Wii has some familar Nintendo game and since it has BC which would help reduce the need of a Nintendo Gamecube.
I agree with Roselie, as my main game is Final Fantasy XI. I have 3 PS2 systems and at the point I need to upgrade either to a XBox or PS3.
Right now, I can’t find ANYTHING saying the PS3 160GB supports FFXI. So, unless I find something saying it supports FFXI, my decision to replace my PS2 systems will be with either 3 XBox 360 systems or 3 PCs with just enough power to run FFXI.
So, Sony, how important is it to get legacy owners to buy multiple PS3 systems???
so, there is going to be an xbox 720 xbox mugen emulator console,
huh, cool, i might love this, says, brandin lee detroy, from desoto ,tx , this is great and fantastic but make the console with
some sonic fighting games, and with some more xbox mugen games like sonic vs tails tailsko, and like sonic vs sonia and like tails tailsko vs spider-man and doc ock, and with venom , and with mortal
kombat vs joker two face, killer croc, and with harley quinn, and with batman,
