Valkyria Chronicles release date is November 11, 2008

Valkyria Chronicles PS3 logo screenshotValkyria Chronicles for PS3 has gotten an official release date of November 11th, 2008 for the tactical RPG.

A few bits of new info have also been revealed regarding Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles. The game will include both the original Japanese voice overs track as well as the localized English voice track, for those who prefer to hear they’re RPG characters speak in their native Japanese with English subtitles.

It was also confirmed that the already released downloadable content in Japan will not be included on the actual game disc when the game launches in America. Which hopefully means we’ll still see the content in a digital download form of our own.

As far as the supposed PSP version is concerned, that actually came about due to a mistake during the Sony E3 2008 Pre-E3 Press Conference in which the in-game trailer was mistakingly shown on a PSP demo-reel. When asked if the developers will actually consider making a PSP version of the game, they sounded rather open to the idea, saying, “Well, you know, the response we got from that accidental announcement was very interesting. I’ll have to leave it at that for now”

Thanks for sharing those videos, astrotriforce. It’s too bad that the DLC isn’t available straight on the disc itself. The game looks great in motion and is such a cool concept though. Sega rocks for having the Japanese voices as an option too.

I’m sure there are some JRPG fans reading up on this game that have yet to get a PS3… I suggest taking a look at this Stacker 2 contest going on where you can win a PS3 or Xbox 360 (your choice). All you need to do is design a 6 Hour Power t-shirt, which is surprisingly easy to do. There are less than 180 entrants so far, so you got to like your chances too… Go here for details: http://www.brickfish.com/Entertainment/Stacker2?tab=overview

If you decide to enter, I suggest sending me an e-mail as I’ll vote for your design. I work with them, so let me know if you have any questions too. Good luck.

Hey thanks for the kind comments regarding the article and the link to your site. :)

It is strange that the Japanese DLC isn’t included on the disc, that seems like a no brainer, but hopefully it’ll be available later on as I stated int he piece. And I agree, having Japanese voice overs available should always be an option in these type of games and that’s a definitely plus to Sega for doing so.

Check your e-mail. :)
