Metal Gear Solid 4 ships 4 million copies worldwide
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has become a resounding hit for Konami. The company announced that the PlayStation 3-exclusive tactical stealth-action game has sold 3 million copies worldwide. As well as being well underway to selling the nearly 4 million copies that were shipped to retailers worldwide (3.94 million to be exact).
This was reported in Konami’s Q1 2008 operating income results. It showed that thanks to Metal Gear Solid 4 sales now make up 56.8% of the 57.3% PS3 sales of Konami’s total between April-June 2008 compared to 1.3% in the same period last year.
Snake’s still got selling power! Which is proven by the Metal Gear Solid series accounting for cumulative sales of more than 25 million units worldwide as of the end of June 2008.
