[...] This is a shameless plug from a blatant Nippon Ichi fan. As this isn’t the number one series of all time . . . yet, I’ll explain the Disgaia series and their lovable cannon fodder briefly. Disgaia is set in the Underworld. It is full of all manner of demons and monsters. Amidst all of these powerful and dangerous creatures vying for power, there must be useless peons to do the grunt work. Prinnies are those peons. They look like penguins with fanny packs. They are actually the vessels for human souls who are atoning for the sins from their life. They use knives and bombs and overuse the word “Dood.” They are quirky and lovable and are fun to beat up. Oh, they also explode when you throw them. For more information, be sure to check out my Disgaia: Hour of Darkness review. [...]

Daniel, you will probably beat the game with a team around level 60 or 70 the first time. That is assuming you don't make the enemies much stronger in your first play through. Where you go from there is completely open ended. Also note, getting characters leveled up only takes a while the first time.

Afternoon of Darkness is the PSP version. If you are into portable gaming, I would pick it up over Hour of Darkness for two reasons. They added a few features and bonus battles and dumbed down the graphics enough that the PSP could run it (no big deal with graphics like these really). It's much easier to find than the PS2 version, also.

I'm a faithful follower of the FF: Tactics series, although not a complete SRPG nut. This series has been on the radar for a while now so I'll have to pick iy up some time. Just some questions though:

By the time you reach the end of the game, does your level reach anything close to 9999? I've heard fans posting about this but it sounds pretty superflous to me.

Hour of Darkness is the PSP iteration, isn't it? Is this version worth getting if I am looking to play on a handheld.

Thanks, great review.
