Sequels — Guitar Hero 5 and Call of Duty 6 — of Activision’s popular series are planned for release in 2009. This after the next sequels Guitar Hero 4: World Tour and Call of Duty 5: World at War will be released on October 27th and in November 2008, respectively.

Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith announced that the publisher’s 2009 lineup will include “multiple new Guitar Hero SKUs [and] an all new Call of Duty [due to our] leapfrog studio strategy.”

This “leapfrog studio strategy” refers to the company’s practice of rotating development responsibilities. Series creator Infinity Ward has lead Call of Duty 1 (2003), Call of Duty 2 (2005) and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007), while Treyarch has produced Call of Duty: United Offensive (2004), Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (2005), Call of Duty 3 (2006) and the upcoming Call of Duty 5: World at War.

Jeez, a little early to be announcing this stuff.

I thought Infinity Ward was going to be working on a non-CoD game though? Does this mean Treyarch is going for CoD5 (despite them talking about leapfroggin)

Yes PacoDG, I explain that in the last paragraph by listing which developer did what game in what year. It’s definitely Treyarch making CoD5 since Infinity Ward made CoD4. They also promised CoD5 would be much better than CoD3 because they had a year longer to make the game.

lol? isnt the 5th one coming out in november? i dont get it i wonder where this game is gunna take place?????!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

its going to take place in Moscow Russia :)

and u no that how?

Cod5 is beast. And oasis r the best band ever!

jfhgjfhdjjjjddjdjdjsdjkdjksdsjkasdkalskand i no nothing yet

i read somewhere else cod 6 is guna be a direct continuation of 4 none of this wwII stuff

GOOD! I don’t know - alot of gamers really like the WW2 stuff, but I’m personally tired of all the different world war-type games out there already … COD4 was the first one that managed to hold my interest, so I’m very glad to hear they’re continuing the ‘Modern Warfare’ series.

I disagree with this guy, I heard that Call of Duty World At War Is actually a sequel to cod3, so it’s NOT Cod5. I also heard COD5 will becoming out somewhere in febuary of 2009 (It’ll either be called Call Of Duty 5:Modern Warefare or Call of Duty 5:Future Warefar). This is just what I have heard. And In my opinion, I think COD:WAW Is kind of boring. I liked the weapons in COD4 a lot more.
