Why is there no PS3 version of Red Alert 3 anymore? EA explains

Pre-Order Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 on PCYou may have heard that Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 was announced for PS3, but then it was put on “indefinite hold”, leaving us with just the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

So what’s the deal, why would EA put just the PS3 version on hold?

Well videogamer.com spoke to EA producer Amer Ajami during a recent visit to EA’s UK headquarters and they addressed the issue with this statement:

“We actually announced a PS3 version early on but that was when we were still doing a lot of technical exploration of the architecture. PS3 is a very powerful system but as you guys know it’s very exotic and tough to develop for and our engine really at the time wasn’t designed for PS3.”

So that’s sad news for PS3 fans, but there may be a light at the end of the tunnel since Ajami went on to say that they might go back and so something with the PS3 version at a later date . . .
