Soul Calibur 4 character select screenHow to unlock all secret Soul Calibur 4 characters? That question will be answered in this guide that shows you who to unlock to get the full roster and how.

The Soul Calibur 4 characters select screen has room for plenty of bonus characters (minus your own character creation). — At the moment Yoda is exclusive to the Xbox 360 version and Darth Vader is exclusive to the PS3 version, although Namco Bandai has hinted both characters may be made available through downloadable content on the other’s console at a later date. This would also explain the blank space in the character roster.

Below we’ve listed the 18 secret characters in alphabetical order. Take the following steps to unlock each one.

Table of Contents

1. Algol: Successfully complete Story mode with a character that fights Algol as the final Boss (Mitsurugi, Taki or others).

2. Amy: Purchase her in the Character Creation for 4000 gold.

3. Angol Fear: Defeat her in Story mode with Scheherazade, Darth Vader, The Apprentice, Algol, Kilik or Zasalamel.

4. Ashlotte: Defeat her in Story mode with Talim, Angol Fear, Astaroth, Lizardman, Maxi or Rock.

Thanks a lot Austin! I’ve added your tips to the guide with a nod to you. :)

Also would like to point out that, at least on the 360 version, theres 10 purchasable characters, not including the 6 unlocked through story and apprentice. Of course they don’t really need a spot in the guide since its a no-brainer, but it bears mentioning that if you’ve only unlocked 10 you aren’t done. :P

Jeez, I wish I could just edit my replies instead of spamming this out — anyway — Maybe not 10, possibly 12, I can’t count them for sure since I’ve bought them all, but even Talim must be purchased, despite being in the last game as a basic character, there’s several others like her. Main point: Just look in the character creation menu before you start fighting and pick out which ones you’re going to buy — At least 5 people I’ve talked to went straight to fighting and had no idea how many characters there were to buy, and its really easy to get them all.

Thanks again Austin! :D I looked into it and you’re right, I’ve added all buyable characters to the unlockable character list now. It went from a total of 10 to 18 characters!

I also found the treasure items list, so that’s part of the guide now too.

How do you get the bonus characters such as Revenant? I saw him on there in the Arcade Mode…

hey, was just wondering, how do you attack throw? i need it to get the item on the 4th floor i think

  • Austin

I believe its either countering someones attack with a throw, or using a special kind of throw. Most characters have 3-5 different types of throws depending on whether they’re standing, crouching, running, blocking, being attacked, dodging an attack, sidestepping, etc etc. My bet is that one of those is considered an “attack throw” but I’m not 100%

I was wondering, for the Playstation 3, i have unlocked pretty much all the Extra and secret characters on the roster available in the image that has been posted of the 34 characters (including the 5 bonus females and Algol) but there is still 1 character slot open, is that even a character? if so how do i unlock it?
