Photo Printing Wii Channel starts in Japan

Nintendo has announced a new Wii Channel called the Wii Digital Camera Print Channel in Japan.
The new channel is a free service that can be downloaded from the Japanese Wii Shop Channel following a Wii System Update. It allows for photographs saved onto an SD card to be printed and delivered to you by Fuji Film, in a collaboration with Nintendo.
Single photo prints cost ¥30 each, and special Wii Photo Books can be purchased at varying sizes, with costs ranging from ¥1575 to ¥2480. Although it must be paid with a credit/debit card and can’t be paid for with Wii Points.
Also in the offering from the Wii Digital Camera Print Channel is a Wii business card service. There are six Nintendo-themed templates available to you and what’s more, they can be customized with real photographs or Mii faces. Naturally the usual personal details that you would need on a business card are also available such as names, addresses . . . and your Wii Friend Code. A set will run you ¥500 for a set of 30. Shipping will cost ¥500 for express delivery and ¥300 for standard.
Now naturally you’d think that this channel would never be headed to the West, but apparently Nintendo of Japan thinks otherwise, as their web-site claims that the new Wii Digital Camera Print Channel is planned for a worldwide release. And this has been backed up by a currently useless Wii system update in the U.S. and Europe which Nintendo of America has said is for a service that’s currently “only available in Japan.” So it looks like you can look forward to seeing the new Wii Digital Camera Print Channel soon. We’ll definitely keep you updated when it hits.
